BREAKING: An active hostage situation is underway at the Chase Bank at 17th Street and Chester Avenue in downtown Bakersfield, California. A man who reportedly has a bomb strapped to his body barricaded himself inside the bank with several community members around 1 PM today. Crisis negotiators from the Bakersfield Police Department and the FBI are communicating with the suspect. One hostage has been safely released. Mandatory evacuations are in effect. Roads are closed between 18th Street and Truxton Avenue. City Hall and surrounding buildings are on lockdown. SWAT, bomb squad, K9, drone team and every available resource is on scene. It is true that CA has embraced anti-hydrocarbon policies. The result? CA has the highest electricity rates in the continental U.S., the highest gas prices, and the highest adjusted poverty rate in America. I wouldn’t be bragging if that was my state.

Why are gas prices always $2.00 higher in California? Because Democrat policies mean we ship in oil from Iraq, 7,500 miles away, instead of getting it from Kern County right here in our state. As governor I will end this insanity so we can have $3.00 gas.
