The Constitution assigns Congress the power to declare war, as Madison emphasized, to prevent one-person decisions. Article I, Section 8, Clause 11 of the U.S. Constitution grants Congress the power "To declare War, grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and make Rules concerning Captures on Land and Water." James Madison, often called the "Father of the Constitution," referred to Article I, Section 8, Clause 11 as containing more wisdom than any other part of the Constitution. In his 1793 essay, Madison explained: "In no part of the constitution is more wisdom to be found than in the clause which confides the question of war or peace to the legislature, and not to the executive department. Beside the objection to such a mixture of heterogeneous powers: the trust and the temptation would be too great for any one man." Arguing that the US would never have WW2 if we abided by the Constitution is stupid. Three days later, on December 11, Germany and Italy declared war on the United States (as Axis allies of Japan). Roosevelt requested, and Congress quickly approved, declarations of war against both nations. In June 1942, Congress also declared war on Bulgaria, Hungary, and Romania after Roosevelt idenFormal Entry into the War: Congressional DeclarationsThe United States officially entered WWII following the Japanese surprise attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. The next day, President Franklin D. Roosevelt addressed a joint session of Congress in his famous "Day of Infamy" speech, requesting a declaration of war against Japan. Congress acted swiftly:The Senate passed the joint resolution unanimously (82–0). The House passed it 388–1 (the sole dissenter was pacifist Rep. Jeannette Rankin of Montana). Roosevelt signed it into law on December 8, 1941.

@RepPress @SharrellAnne2 @rulajebreal @Acyn You’re posting nonsense like you understand the constitution which you don’t. Not even close. We would be living under Japanese, German or Russian influence or control if fools like you were in charge. The US would have never won WW 2 with soy men like you.

Hegseth is correct: it's terrible when a government driven by a radical ideology invests in weapons instead of its people. The Trump Administration spent $12 Billion to bomb Iran, and The Pentagon asked for a supplemental *$200 Billion* for the Iran regime change war. Remember, 20 million Americans saw their health care premiums double because Trump didn’t want to spend $30 billion.
Acyn@Acyn

Hegseth: Iran is an energy rich country. instead, like so many other places, driven by a radical ideology, instead of investing in their people… they invested in missiles, and they invested in launchers and UAVS.

Kent to Horton: "The Israelis forced our hand. They got nervous Trump would strike a deal again. They told us we'd be attacked for it next. That was the red line for me. I can't be part of this." Kent spills: Israel got nervous about deal. They wanted chaos, not peace. So they pushed the US into war.

@RepPress @SharrellAnne2 @rulajebreal @Acyn Wrong answer. There hasn’t been a declared war since WW 2. No Congressional approval for Obama’s drone strike war across Africa and the Middle East, Libya, troops on ground in Syria and Afghan surge. Trump was perfectly within his executive branch power.

"That resistance is now international.” Novara Media’s @StevenJMethven is in Cuba, reporting on a convoy delivering aid to Cubans struggling under Trump’s oil embargo. "a constitutional republic with protected rights ?" if we actually had that, then we wouldn't be in a war with Iran right now. The United States was set up with the safeguard to keep the decision of war and peace out of the hands of one man, yet Trump violated that wisest part of the US Constitution. In these modern times, we sure could have used our Constitution to protect us because we live in a nuclear age with a WWIII looming over us. We have been robbed of our freedom and liberty to live as free people protected by our Constitution.

Surely you’re not comparing the United States to Iran when it comes to the quality of life for its people, are you? That’s not even a serious comparison. One is a constitutional republic with protected rights and open dissent. The other is a theocracy where dissent gets you jailed, women are legally restricted, and opposition is crushed by force. Pretending those are the same is dishonest.

Republicans have repeatedly said the SAVE Act is the most important piece of legislation they have. Yet they cannot point to a single statistic to back up that claim. Why? Because there is no evidence of widespread voter fraud. There is, however, mountains of data that shows that the proof of citizenship requirement of the SAVE Act would disenfranchise millions of Americans. That’s why it’s important to them. That’s what they’re doing.
Headquarters@HQNewsNow

Q: Trump said the SAVE Act is his number 1 priority, can you give me one example of fraud conducted in a previous election? Mike Johnson: We're not going to litigate all of that
