𝗦𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗿 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱𝗻'𝘁 𝗳𝗶𝗴𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝟴𝘁𝗵 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲. He was six when his father and elder brother didn't come home one night. Road accident. Both of them. His mother Varsha Devi just quietly picked everything up and kept going. The way mothers do. She heard about RTE admissions. Applied. And Sagar, this kid who grew up watching his mother count every rupee walked into DpsAligarh. And he didn't just survive there. He belonged there. But RTE covers only till 8th grade. And as that day got closer, one question started sitting heavy on him ""Ab aage kaise hoga?"" His family couldn't afford what came next. Eight years of hard work, and suddenly it all had an expiry date. When our team met him in Aligarh, he didn't come with forms. He just sat with us and talked. About his mother. About wanting to become a doctor. About being scared this was where his story ends. We were building the RTE Scholars Fund at exactly that moment because Sagar wasn't alone. The first batch of RTE students everywhere were hitting the same wall. So we decided to bridge it. Fees, books, uniforms, travel covered. 9th to 12th. No child falls off just because the law stops at 8. On 28th April 2023 we launched the Fund. Sagar and his mother were in the room. When his name was called Varsha Devi cried. This woman who had held everything together for years. Just cried. Sagar is still studying. Still wants to be a doctor. Still showing up. Some stories just need to keep going. Nobody in the family had been down this road before. After completing his studies and getting certificate, he honestly had no clue what to do next. It took him a while to figure it out. Apprenticeships, career pathways, what actually comes after #training ends. He explains it. Patiently. Because he knows what it costs to figure it out alone. But Anil isn't just there for the students. He spends just as much time with ITI staff and coordinators, the ones who are there every single day. Because Anil can't be everywhere. Helping one #mother figure out the system is a win. Asking why she had to struggle at all, that is the real work. We met with Anganwadi workers and parents in #Surat recently. Most had heard of RTE admissions but never tried navigating it alone. The process feels little confusing even for people used to dealing with paperwork. So, we just opened the RTE #Bot on WhatsApp. No presentations, no training. Just, let's try this together. Within half an hour, parents were checking their own documents, understanding what they needed, asking the right questions. Once one person got it, the whole room got curious. That moment was real. But it is only one part of the work. Every session like this tells us something. Where people get stuck. What confuses them. Which parts of the system are quietly failing families. We take that back to our work with #government institutions through PMU and try to fix things at the source. A lot of people talk about last mile execution. It matters, and we care about it. But if the system behind it is broken, last mile efforts only go so far. The core of what RightWalk Foundation does is institutional strengthening. Making the system itself easier, not just helping people get through a difficult one. Field work and system work are the same thing for us. "3 साल घर पर बैठे रहे। Certificate था, skill थी… बस एक मौका नहीं था।” Rahul lost his father at 12. His mother became a farm labourer. His brother started doing electrician work. Rahul decided he wouldn't be the one sitting idle. He completed his welding course from Government ITI, Korpana in 2019 and came back ready to work. Then COVID hit. Three years passed. No jobs. No calls. Nothing. Every morning he watched his mother leave for the fields while he stayed home with a skill he couldn't use anywhere. In 2024, at an Apprenticeship Fair in Chandrapur, #Maharashtra Rahul met our district coordinator Kapil Bambole. Rahul didn't want sympathy. He just wanted to know where to start. Kapil sat with him, explained the process, helped with the paperwork, and connected him to an opening at Dalmia Cement Bharat Limited. He cleared the interview process and got selected. Today Rahul works there as a welder, the same trade he trained for five years ago. He earns Rs 11,550 a month. His mother no longer worries about the house. And Rahul is already thinking about his own workshop someday. His story is not about missing skill. It's about what happens after the training ends, and whether anyone is there to help you through it. The G part in our RIGHT framework stands for Ground. It means staying with the candidate through every step after training, helping them understand the system, sorting the paperwork, making the right employer connection, and making sure they don't give up before they get through the door.
