Actually I know many highly educated scientists, inventors, and computer savants as well as a few people looking to build tech companies who have moved to China. Had several people I know move to Cuba to study medicine. Have one friend who moved here from Hong Kong when he was 18 right as Hong Kong was being returned to China. He built a happy life here and raised a family. He now visits China multiple times a year. All he talks about now is how safe, clean, affordable, and advanced the nation has become. He would move back except he has built a life here that would be challenging to leave. The world is not black and white
