How much will this Administration’s carelessness cost Americans? I demanded an answer from Trump’s Energy Secretary. Republicans want to restart a dangerously leaky oil pipeline off the coast of California – one that has already caused an environmental disaster. Local radio clubs aren’t just for hobbyists. Every year, these clubs get together, joined by law enforcement and fire departments, to showcase ways that radio communication technology helps save lives when disaster strikes. I had a wonderful time speaking to the dedicated radio club members, and to the Scouts learning to operate the different systems. This was a great reminder about why I'm a cosponsor of the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act. Because when cell networks go down in an emergency, AM radio is often the lifeline that keeps people informed and safe.

Trump just rolled out a diabolical new plan to withhold federal investments for counterterrorism and emergency preparedness from states that stand up to his election-rigging agenda. Basically, Trump wants to make you choose between your right to vote and your safety. The billions in DHS investments in question are given to states to help strengthen security and protect against terrorist threats. They’re crucially important and should be free of any partisan agenda. However, under Trump’s proposal, states that want these grants will now be required to run their voter rolls through a faulty Trump controlled system called SAVE, which has MISIDENTIFIED completely eligible American voters as noncitizens. His plan would also force states to spend upwards of $2.7 BILLION to comply with new equipment mandates. That would just be more money wasted by Trump and Republicans at a time when they’re pushing families off food assistance and gutting healthcare. This is a losing man’s way of clinging on to power - plain and simple. Trump's policies have failed American families, and he’s terrified that they’ll hold him accountable. cnn.com/2026/06/22/pol…

Happy 250th Birthday, America! Today, I am grateful to those who have fought for the values of our country: freedom, liberty, democracy, equality, and opportunity. We've accomplished so much, but have so much left to do. I hope today renews our commitment to making this country freer, fairer, and truer to its founding promise for the next 250 years.

This is your daily reminder that as of last month, ICE and CBP are sitting on more than $95 billion in unused funds. Despite that, Congressional Republicans handed them another $70 billion in the so-called “Secure America Act”. Do the math. That’s about $165 billion (OR $481 FOR EVERY MAN, WOMAN, AND CHILD IN THE UNITED STATES) to be used by masked agents to terrorize our neighborhoods. I’m working in Congress every day to put a stop to this wasteful, chaotic spending.

Trump thinks your ability to put a roof over your head is a “big yawn.” It’s not a yawn in LA. Housing is a crisis. That’s why I’ve spent my entire career championing policies to make housing more affordable and available.
