@DrHelenFry My father was serving in the navy on DDay. He was on HMS Erebus supporting the landings at Utah beach. They were told to keep Cherbourg safe with coastal bombardments. one of their 15” guns was damaged - he always believed it was sabotaged and they had to return to Portsmouth
