Former Prosecutor— Yeah, this is standard practice pretty much nationwide. You cannot trust teachers or academics on a jury. They will do all manner of mental gymnastics to view the offender as a child in need of a second chance that they can be the ones to grant.

This is hilarious. The prosecution struck 3 potential jurors who were black, and the defense objected. The prosecution responded that it struck them "because they are teachers."
The prosecution didn't think teachers would be willing to give a guilty verdict - probably true.

@GenericSnarky Spend 5 min with the data and you start to get a pretty uncomfortable picture. The 13% includes infants, elderly, and women. So right there, it's more like 3-4% on the front end. The 53% doesn't account for unsolved murders or classification errors. So more like 65-75%.
