@CamDog_MonHun @CollinCall_in @Korixili @TiamatStan24 Well they do, it’s samurai horns for the monster based off a samurai, if you don’t like them it’s fine, but that’s the ultimate truth in the end alongside the fact that these horns for display are a common trait seen in MH

@Sa2Learn @CollinCall_in @Korixili @TiamatStan24 Even if horns don’t have a clear purpose they can still fit in with the rest of the design. Espinas is covered in thorns so it has a thorn for a horn. Brachydios head pounder matches its arms. Seregios is covered in blades so its head is a blade. So for magna why antlers?

@CollinCall_in @CamDog_MonHun @Korixili @TiamatStan24 Yeah I get that, but what I mean is you’re caught up on the actual biology, but some monsters just have horns for display, with magna being no exception. Zingore, Lagiacrus, Glavenus, and more all have these non-combative horns which is once again common for the MH universe.

@Sa2Learn @CamDog_MonHun @Korixili @TiamatStan24 ? It's biology is part of the sexual selection process is part of its ecology. All biology is part of ecology so ofc it's relevant. Its just a oh we made a monster with horns and some animals use horns for sexual selection so why not say it's for that while ignoring the how

@Sa2Learn @CamDog_MonHun @Korixili @TiamatStan24 As realistic as fire which I fully disagree with. If you want to know a monster I think has more depth in its ecology and is the gold standard id say Diablos but I used Rathalos as a pretty good example too.

@CollinCall_in @CamDog_MonHun @Korixili @TiamatStan24 I don’t even think Arkveld is lesser and im not using him as a whataboutism, he’s being used as an example for how the world of MH functions and why you thinking one is passable and the other isn’t is strange despite the world itself proving that these are things that can happen

@Sa2Learn @CamDog_MonHun @Korixili @TiamatStan24 It's not impossible just improbable. It's not in nature because evolution moves everything moves towards efficiency but fire breathing would be incredibly inefficient. The way the bombardier beetle boils acid in its body is the mechanism they say would be similar just tweaked

@CollinCall_in @CamDog_MonHun @Korixili @TiamatStan24 You’re getting caught up on the biology once again, because that IS what they are for whether they look like antlers, horns, or whatever else. As mentioned previously you can not like it, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s true and there so agree to disagree 🙏

@Sa2Learn @CamDog_MonHun @Korixili @TiamatStan24 Someone said he didn't and I said it was surface level and you said it had more depth but I disagree. We got caught up on biology but like the horns are the perfect example. They're for sexual selection but not in a way like horns because they were designed to be a samurai helm

@CollinCall_in @CamDog_MonHun @Korixili @TiamatStan24 It’s both a practical and biological issue 😭 there’s no organism that we’ve seen that could posses the fire sacs seen in MH, but that’s besides the point. Arkveld is still a creature in MH that evolved in ITS world, the same as Magna and others, it runs off that logic not ours.

@CollinCall_in @CamDog_MonHun @Korixili @TiamatStan24 Well you don’t gotta like it, but it’s a component to the series. It’s how things are done and it’s pretty much expected at this point. This whole thing wasn’t even started to get you TO like them, it was said that Magna had no ecology and that was objectively incorrect

@Sa2Learn @CamDog_MonHun @Korixili @TiamatStan24 That line of arguments only works if the person you're arguing with LIKES the ones you claim are worse but I haven't brought up or defended any of the ones you have so I don't see your point. Some monsters also don't have interesting ecology and most of them are portable ones too

@CollinCall_in @CamDog_MonHun @Korixili @TiamatStan24 We don’t have real world comparison for fire element either 😭. Birds using flaming sticks as a tool is neither an efficient real world comparison or what any of the fire breathing monsters’ ecology is based off of; this still doesn’t make their ecology BS

@CollinCall_in @CamDog_MonHun @Korixili @TiamatStan24 Yeah that’s my point! These guys are all animals, but still fantastical and they have no basis compared to Magna’s ecology. Although MH is explainable, it’s still fantasy, things are going to get whacky and not be 1:1 with reality whether it be hellfire, fireballs, or slime mold

@Sa2Learn @CamDog_MonHun @Korixili @TiamatStan24 He also has chain arms for games themes rather than biology. I only explained particle effects he gives off because his part of the higher fantasy aspect of monster hunters universe. Odogaron also gives off particle effects without a solid explanation?

@Sa2Learn @CamDog_MonHun @Korixili @TiamatStan24 It's the difference is a tiger monster with magic and a dragon monster with magic. One is more reasonable because the suspension of disbelief is different for tigers and dragons

@CollinCall_in @CamDog_MonHun @Korixili @TiamatStan24 I know you didn’t, I brought him up! I’m using him as an example of a monster where they have legit given us nothing but “he’s cool so he can do it”. Magna meanwhile has anatomy and behavior that explains what he does. You seeing that as BS is your opinion ofc, but it has no base

@Sa2Learn @CamDog_MonHun @Korixili @TiamatStan24 I didn't bring up Arkveld? But he's dragon element which is basically magic element lol. The game just says magnamalo eats bones that create the fictional gas from eating bones and your post hoc justifications aren't convincing.

@CollinCall_in @CamDog_MonHun @Korixili @TiamatStan24 I can say that Brachy was just made to be a punching monster, but they added in slime because who tf cares; though that wouldn’t be true. I can say the same for Glave which is “let’s make cool sword Carno” but more went into that. I can LITERALLY say that about anything with Ark

@CollinCall_in @CamDog_MonHun @Korixili @TiamatStan24 See but that’s a conclusion you came to yourself despite the multiple explanations given to you. If it was designed to just have cool smoke with no justification they would’ve just did what they did with Arkveld which literally glows smoke for no explanation whatsoever.

@CamDog_MonHun @Korixili @CollinCall_in @TiamatStan24 One is a detonating slime and the other is an instant volatile gas? Feels pretty unique 💀 and what does this have to do with Magna having no ecology?? We can compare monster abilities like Nu Udra and Gog or Garuga and Rathian, but this doesn’t effect magna having ecology

@CollinCall_in @CamDog_MonHun @Korixili @TiamatStan24 Bones are composed of phosphorus which is just as flammable, and white phosphorus is colored so there’s another thing lmaooo. Once again though we don’t even have an irl precedent for a FIRE breathing organism so I don’t see why that logic is any less magic than this 😭

@Sa2Learn @CamDog_MonHun @Korixili @TiamatStan24 It's specifically a byproduct of eating bones though and not the food around them. Methane and hydrogen are colorless and odorless so it's not those unless its some fictionalized magic version that can also just spontaneously combust. And yes lol it is a further extension ig

@CollinCall_in @CamDog_MonHun @Korixili @TiamatStan24 When you digest food, your gut bacteria forms things like methane or hydrogen (which are flammable) as a byproduct. Just an extension of reality once again! It’s even more of an extension then the beetle since one is a fireball and the other is a boiling liquid.

@Sa2Learn @CamDog_MonHun @Korixili @TiamatStan24 I didn't say it was fire I just showed how it's a natural extension of reality. I assume you're saying "couldn't" but like... Why? How is getting purple methane and hydrogen from bones more likely then an organ that produces pressurized nitrogen?

@CollinCall_in @CamDog_MonHun @Korixili @TiamatStan24 That’s a burning chemical you showed me, not a flaming ball of fire which feasibly could not be produced biologically outside of MH 😭. I could say there’s methane and hydrogen within waste gas (which we know hellfire is) and that causes it to explode, that works just as well.

@Sa2Learn @CamDog_MonHun @Korixili @TiamatStan24 The bombardier beetle shoots a boiling acid from an organ in its body and not from eating bones. It's not reality but it is closer to reality. Electric and poison organs also exist though so it's just building from reality

@CollinCall_in @CamDog_MonHun @Korixili @TiamatStan24 I mean simply saying “fire sac” seems a lot more vague than actually giving a dietary reasoning on how the gas is created 😭. Also the lions mane was just one example, many animal use horns to attract mates as a way to determine their fitness.

@Sa2Learn @CamDog_MonHun @Korixili @TiamatStan24 I mean like blast? But usually fire is just a flammable gas from a fire sac rather than bones making explosive gas which makes less sense. Horns in sexual selection that works like fur instead of horns? Feels like they gave him a samurai helmet piece then post hoc rational
