@tobyasky It's more about transporting equipment. More efficient to load up the bus than haul everything to an airport, put everything on a plane, get it off a plane and then transport it to a stadium. By going by bus, the equipment manager can arrive a day early and get everything set up

I have answered this question recently, so let me just re-write my previous response for the sake of people who do not know. You can actually drive around Europe by road if you want to. This Atletico Madrid bus could have set off from Madrid since yesterday possibly, the same bus will pick their players from the airport as they land in London. If the distance is very far, they can split the journey by putting the coaches (buses) on a ferry, to transport it. Top clubs are big on branding, they can easily rent a bus wherever they get to, but these buses are customised to the detail, players have special seats they want to sit and the last thing is to make them uncomfortable. Anything to make them as comfortable as possible is what is advised. Although if they have to go as far as Eastern European countries like Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, they dare not try this…but other parts of Central, Southern and Western Europe, this is possible.
