@JohnBarentine Very cool! I always get excited when I see a hawk. I had a small family briefly visit my neighborhood this past summer, and it was amazing to see and hear them communicating back and forth. I love this photo. Wishing you a very Happy Birthday, John! 🎉 Thank you for all you do!

Gets it: "Tucson's dark sky ordinance helps with visibility, according to Harris. 'Which is fortunate for people who are trying to observe something like the aurora because we don't have as many street lights,' Harris said." (via @kgun9) kgun9.com/news/local-new…

🌌✨ This is something I wish everyone could experience. It truly is amazing. If you haven’t, please do! Use a light pollution map to find a dark place, and go on a clear, moonless night! 💫

Silos, stars, summer triangle, and the Milky Way!🌌 And to it some high clouds, meteors and coyotes howling in the distance—all making for an incredible sensory experience and a memorable night in the Illinois countryside!😇 Canon R6, Rokinon RF14mm, 60 frames stacked in Sequator

Wide angle view of a meteor, a silo, Saturn and a beautiful starry sky! Few things compare to looking up at the night sky and taking in the wonders of the universe! Canon R6, Rokinon RF14mm, f/2.8, 20s, ISO3200 #Astrophotography

AZ Aurora update for 5/12/24 - Tonight seems to be the last chance to see any Aurora action in AZ. Yesterday’s Aurora forecast was stronger than today’s and as we know we didn’t see much last night :( . It’s looking pretty unfavorable to see anything tonight in the valley even in Northern AZ. The KP was 8.5-9 Friday during the peak and today the max KP for today is 6.7. Hoping things will change as the Aurora forecast can sometimes be unpredictable but the chances are pretty low tonight. Will send another final update tonight! To those chasing again there’s always some Milky Way action if all else fails and it’ll be rising around 11pm. 🌌 Happy Mother’s Day! #azwx

Last night really happened. The best aurora I’ve ever seen! A night I will never forget from northeast South Dakota. #aurora

Views of the great May display of #Auroraborealis on May 10, 2024, from home in southern Alberta. The show was marked by lots of pinks, purples and blues for the camera. But to the eye I found it remained surprisingly dim and slow moving for a Kp8 display, but with odd features.

Another G5 Solar Storm Watch has been issued by NOAA for May 12th! So, if you can't see the aurora through the clouds tonight, you'll have tomorrow night to see it again. As for the cloud forecast tomorrow(Sunday) night, things look much more favorable as a surface high pressure system should set up over the mid-Atlantic which should provide some of the best atmospheric viewing conditions of the weekend. #wxtwitter #wxX #solarstorm

Events like the auroral display last night are magical and unforgettable to those who see them. There are few such situations that bring people from all walks of life, and of all political persuasions together anymore. But we won’t see them if the sky is polluted with our light.

People go out, talk to each other, share images and advice, & generally have a good time. Instead of getting drunk and causing mayhem. Let's have a grown up debate on the benefits of reducing #lightpollution

Durdle Door with the Northern lights This may be my favourite photo I’ve ever taken! 😮 The flowers, the Milky Way, the Aurora Borealis and Durdle Door in the early hours of this morning, with the symmetry of the colours in the sky and the curve of the clifftop & beach 📸 James Loveridge #NorthernLights #AuroraBoreal #Aurora

NEW PICTURES: Extremely rare aurora in Southwest Florida this evening, first time in decades, was glowing pink in the northern sky. This is honestly on the same level as seeing snow here, some may not see this again in their lifetime. This was caused by an "Extreme" G5 Solar Storm that brought auroras to the Bahamas, Cuba and Jamaica too! Full Gallery: facebook.com/share/p/KDUaeZ… @WINKNews #Aurora

Aurora borealis over the Chicago skyline! I've taken pictures of moonrises, sunrises, a comet & a partial solar eclipse over the Chicago skyline (from the same vantage point) but never thought I'd shoot the Northern Lights! #Aurora #Auroraborealis #NorthernLights #AuroraChicago
