Days ago, Iran's demands had shifted to something workable: sanctions relief, security guarantees, and compensation.
That was the moderate track.
Tonight, the IRGC is running the table with a completely different list: close every American base in the Gulf, let Iran collect tolls on Hormuz like Egypt does at Suez, keep the missile program untouched, and pay reparations.
This is the IRGC flexing over the diplomats.
The Revolutionary Guard consolidated power through this war and is now dictating terms that a U.S. official called "ridiculous and unrealistic."

Four weeks of bombing, 13 dead Americans, $12+ billion spent, 1,400+ Iranian civilians killed, and the offer on the table is almost identical to the one Tehran rejected in February... Iran's new leadership says it wants more now, specifically compensation for the destruction. Trump says they've "agreed they will never have a nuclear weapon." The gap is narrowing but the hardest part remains. Iran won't accept zero enrichment. Trump won't pay reparations. And Netanyahu is still bombing while everyone else is negotiating. When your stated national purpose is to exterminate a race of people and your political apparatus encourages "Death to Israel" and "Death to America".. you must assume they mean it. Every hawk on the internet is pointing at Iran's missile range and multi-country retaliation as vindication.
"See? We had to hit them. Look how dangerous they are."
That reasoning collapses under its own weight.
Iran didn't launch anything until it was attacked.
Responding to being bombed is not the same as posing an imminent threat.
If self-defense proves you deserved to be attacked, then every country with a military is fair game for preemptive war.
Capability without intent is not a threat.
Brazil has a military. So does Indonesia.
Nobody is suggesting they need to be neutralized.
The moment you start treating the mere existence of weapons as justification for striking first, you've created a world where every nation on earth is either attacking or waiting to be attacked...
