@IGoBySteve For work last year I met with folks who do gov’t affairs work in Utah. They’re working in Idaho this session and are Republicans, as am I (of a sort). I warned the Utah leg doesnt prepare them at all for Idaho’s. They called recently & agreed Idaho’s is significantly more extreme

@drterrysimpson I spread less into the seat next me on flights, my cholesterol & triglycerides are now normal. Near as I can tell the only group I’m harming is the food industry because what I save on dining and groceries, I now give to @EliLillyandCo. It works for and is no one else’s business.

The idea that shame improves obesity outcomes isn’t supported by the literature. Weight stigma is associated with higher cortisol and oxidative stress (PMID: 25401288), more binge eating (PMID: 2866597), and disordered eating via internalized stigma (PMID: 30019257). Shame may feel satisfying to the observer. It’s not evidence-based medicine. WHen you quote an article that is not about obesity to state this works for obesity - well, lesson here - learn science

@LoganDobson I pay @EliLillyandCo $450/mo out of pocket (insurance doesn’t cover). I’ve lost 10% of my body weight in 9 months and still losing. My spending habits show that I save more than half the monthly cost of the drug on reduced spending on groceries, dining and sacks.

GLPs are a good example of how we could reduce prices by cutting out middlemen -- many insurers don't cover them, and so these drugs increasingly go direct-to-consumer from the pharma companies. As a consequence, prices have gone down; GLPs that previously cost thousands per month are already down to hundreds and will likely continue to fall. Really makes clear where the absurd costs come from in our healthcare system, and, hint, it's not the pharmaceutical industry.

@sunday_southern Yeah, I can’t complain about any of mine in that respect either. I was in Donostia and Bilbao, the principal cities in the Basque Country, the first an old money beach city and the second the model city for post-industrial artistic and architectural revival.

My area in downtown Buenos Aires was a reward. I lived in a nice apartment on the 10th floor of a building 3 blocks from Congress, I rode the subway 12 times a day, & walked in beautiful sun and shade. When I did missionary work (95% of the time), it was soul crushing torture.

@kaylee_ashlynn I don’t think my late grandpa—who served in WWII and whose brother died in the war—would have cared at all. He never expressed any racist views to me about Indians before he died when I was 13. But I do miss him though…

I consider it a privilege and honor to be able to have the job I do... Part of that is the people I work with... Both behind the scenes & on the camera. One reason that is was seen at the end of the 7pm, 8pm & 9pm hour programs tonight. For those that don't know, my Uncle passed away today. He was a far more talented person than I will ever be, though he certainly let me know that he was proud of my relatively small accomplishments. (I'm putting in the small.) Anyway, Erin & I are shared some kind words about him at the end of the 7 tonight. Anderson and then Kaitlan paid tribute at the end of their shows. Both mentioned my relationship to him. I didn't ask them to do any of this. They just did it. I received many texts & calls from many folks as well. When people ask me whether I enjoy my job... I answer some form "If you had told me 15 years ago that I'd be where I am today... I'd take it every time." I mean it every time I say it, and I mean it now.

“Damn, wtf is up with that boy’s politics?” I grew up in College Station, TX and went to the George H W Bush library probably 4 times a year as a child. Then lived in NYC for half a decade. That should sum it up pretty neatly.
