Just remember everyone, while we struggle to pay bills, put food on our tables, and watch our southern border be invaded; Biden is sending his sugar baby Zelensky more of your tax money.

@shashj 1. Attritional Phase. Not necessarily the same as stalemate 2. Technology AND matériel+ doctrine 3. Not immediately, but attrition might open possibilities 4. Only if the West succumbs to Russian information warfare and ceases support. Else 🇺🇦 has attrition superiority

@OAlexanderDK Where does attrition lead strategically though? If Western support stays high, Russian lines might collapse at some point. If not, attrition rates are unlikely to favour Ukrainian organic force generation potential.

In regards to the original goals of liberating a large land area, I agree. However once the priority pivoted towards the attrition of Russian military capacity it became more successful. Was it a success? No. Did it succeed in further attriting the Russian military? Yes.

Almost five full months into Ukraine's counteroffensive, with action winding down, I think it's safe to say it has been a serious failure. The overarching goal was to liberate a large amount of territory, including the cities of Tokmak and Melitopol, and this has not happened.

@JaysonGeroux Pretty straightforward. The difficult bit about nukes is the delivery, especially in the 50ies when they were massive. So what if the prophet does not need to come to the mountain? Especially in some areas like the Fulda gap where Soviet forces would be funnelled narrowly?

1/11 Short🧵 Good for a chuckle. "Back in the mid-fifties, the British army was wrestling with the question of how to give British troops time to retreat if the Soviet hordes broke through their defences in Germany. You generally lay mines as you retreat, if you have…

@Textyorgua_Eng I doubt the 180° course changes. Flying to Kyev and then back to something you overflew earlier? Needless exposure to intercepts and massive expenditure of delta-v.

Decoding Russian missile maneuvers during the mass rocket attack on Ukraine on 21 September 🗺⤵ Russian missiles struck in multiple waves, entering Ukrainian airspace from different directions, constantly altering their course along the way. Based on night-time reports from "Operatyvnii Inform" Telegram channel, TEXTY mapped the approximate route of Russian missiles. A total of 43 Kh-101/Kh-555/Kh-55 cruise missiles were fired from 10 strategic aviation Tu-95 aircraft. Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed 36 of these missiles. Near Kharkiv, Russian forces deployed surface-to-air guided missiles launched from the S-300 system.

Hard to say anything positive about this. After initially losing 4 M2A2 Bradley ODS-SA IFVs, 1 Leopard 2A6 and a BMR-2 armored demining vehicle in one location, 4 more M2A2 Bradley ODS-SA IFVs drove to the exact same position and started taking loses.

A Russian channel complains about the quality of the tires used by military trucks, which is a particular problem in flooded areas. They say they can only replace the wheels after 52k km, but the tire below has only driven 42k km. t.me/dva_majors/172… t.me/dva_majors/172…

@simonharley Debated only by those with a one-dimensional definition of victory. Germany inflicted more damage (minor tactical victory), but failed in its operational goal of changing the balance (operational loss). Strategically it also contributed to the successful sailor’s revolt.

The Battle of Jutland took place on this day (and into the night) in 1916 between the British Grand Fleet and the German High Sea Fleet. The result of the clash continues to be debated to this day. #history

Lol... I now have been asked to "add more of a technology focus" to an existing Matrix Game about "The High North" and possible problems in the Arctic... With 2 days notice... I'm thinking - should I add "opportunity costs" to these as well?
