A cool visualization of the price movement of the market "Will the Iranian regime fall by June 30." On February 28, the US & Israel started their operation against the Iranian regime. Their goal was to significantly degrade the military capabilities of the regime, with possible regime change. My positions fell to an unrealized loss of $25K. Before the attack happened, I owned around $70K of the regime not falling across multiple markets: March 31, June 30, and December 31. On the first day, there was a lot of uncertainty, whether Khamenei was alive, how many other leaders had been killed, and if the regime would survive. But knowing the structure of the Iranian Islamic Republic, I knew that even if most leaders were killed, they would simply be replaced by others. So I decided to double down on my position at the bottom, during the peak of uncertainty. The Iranian regime isn’t dependent on one leader, it’s built to survive shocks. Power is spread across institutions like the IRGC, and leaders can be quickly replaced. Removing individuals doesn’t collapse the system, it just triggers continuity, which is why the market initially mispriced the risk. After Ali Khamenei was confirmed dead, prices still stayed at the lows for about one day, but then slowly recovered the next day as people realized that killing a few leaders would not topple the regime. At the same time, Trump and Israel also started making statements that the main goal of the war was not regime change, even though Trump had promised to free the Iranian people in January. Over the next week, the price leveled out as there was still uncertainty about a power vacuum, especially since it took a while to pick and announce a new Supreme Leader with some speculating about a takeover from within the regime But on March 8 (Iran time), Mojtaba Khamenei was officially announced as the new Supreme Leader by the Assembly of Experts. About one week after the war started, I made $100K predicting the future. I used the new PNL feature on PredictFolio.com to analyze my PNL history in this specific market.
