@edsocra I see that is interesting, since you are a first ranker in the Math Olympiads perhaps you can enlighten me about how IQ relates to expected value theory? What conditions in signal detection theory has his intellect optimized for?

What it's like being married to a 160+ IQ person: Sipping coffee and checking on our plants in the garden (our normal routine)... Mike: "Oh, I figured out how plants grow." Proceeds to give the best explanation ever, something I'd never heard or thought about in my life, even as a plant lover. His brain is always working and discovering new things, not just about coding and software, but about everything around him. He calls it First Principles thinking. He is amazing at ignoring all assumptions and conventions.

I used to mark students down for using AI. Now I refuse to mark their papers at all & instead call them in to have a conversation about integrity. I give them a chance to redo their work properly with a grade reduction. It's time consuming, yes, but it's also our job as teachers.

@Pirat_Nation i loathe, absolutely everyone, who ever focuses on pointless factors like this in a game. you are the reason why they put 80 points into graphics, and 20 into gameplay/story. BuT MuH 64k GrApHiCs!!@!2!!@!!1!" fuck you, you fucked shit up for the rest of us.

My high school neighbourhood just elected a local 59yo councilwoman who campaigned in the local paper with an AI photo. Her statement: ‘I used an internet program to enhance the image because the resolution of the photo was bad. It’s simply my photo, that really is me. I use medication that’s why I look a bit different now. But yes, I do look much younger than my age. When I’m out with my son people think I’m his girlfriend. I hear that I look super young for my age all the time.’

@Grady_Booch @ssskryl @Jason Yeah go ahead and define it please. If his definition is wrong, then you would have to prove it for any sane person to understand your reasoning. Truth is, he's right and humans are too slow to realize the exponential curve we're in.

Here’s the truth: we’ve already reached AGI — we just haven’t implemented it broadly. Millions of jobs are being lost as we speak. Entire careers will be retired. The rich and powerful investors and founders who implement AGI will get bizarrely rich beyond what makes sense. It will break people's brains on both sides. It’s gonna suck for a lot of our friends and family, who aren’t obsessed with their careers, because things are moving so fast they won’t have even left the starting gate by the time the awards are handed out. We’re gonna have to solve for a lot of second- and third-order effects, some of which will suck (job loss) and some of which will be awesome. AI will create free/cheap energy, free education, cheaper and better food, homes that build themselves and medicine that makes you as healthy as a 30-year-old when you’re 100. … change is hard, but humans are the most adaptable species nature has ever created. We can figure it out.

It erased an entire section of a site we were building. Then falsely tried to help me fix it for five hours until finally admitting that he erased the core code and that it lied to me for the last four hours trying to cover up its mistake. It’s like dealing with the fucking six-year-old we could’ve rebuilt it and just saved me that four or five hours trying to fix the problem….

Careful — this is narrative stacking. Yes, Anthropic pushing a step-change model matters. But “2× beyond scaling laws” + industry panic is still unverified leap. OpenAI and others cutting/prioritizing isn’t new — it’s capital discipline in a compute race. Costs may spike at the frontier, but history says: → expensive at the edge → cheap at scale NVIDIA wins near-term, yes. But long-term? Efficiency + competition always compress margins. Hype is peaking. Reality will be messier.

the Anthropic leak is bigger than we thought. three weeks before Mythos leaked, rumors were circulating that a frontier lab completed its largest training run ever and the model performed roughly 2x above what scaling laws predicted. no lab was named but now we know it was probably Anthropic. they confirmed to Fortune that the new model is a step change. their own leaked blog says it scores dramatically higher than Opus 4.6 in coding and reasoning and is far ahead of every other model right now. this also explains OpenAI gutting Sora and scrambling to raise capital. if massive training runs are the only way to stay competitive, you cut everything else and stockpile compute. the part nobody wants to hear is that frontier AI is about to get much more expensive to run and use. instead of getting cheaper, the best models might cost us a house 💀 compute is the new oil. the middleman (Jensen) wins again.
Andrew Curran@AndrewCurran_

Three weeks ago there were rumors that one of the labs had completed its largest ever successful training run, and that the model that emerged from it performed far above both internal expectations and what people assumed the scaling laws would predict. At the time these were only rumors, and no lab was attached to them. But in light of what we now know about Mythos, they look more credible, and the lab was probably Anthropic. Around the same time there were also rumors that one of the frontier labs had made an architectural breakthrough. If you are in enough group chats, you hear claims like this constantly, and most turn out to be nothing. But if Anthropic found that training above a certain scale, or in a certain way at that scale, produces capabilities that sit far above the prior trendline, then that is an architectural breakthrough. I think the leaked blog post was real, but still a draft. Mythos and Capybara were both candidate names for the new tier, though Mythos may now have enough mindshare that they end up keeping it. The specific rumor in early March was that the run produced a model roughly twice as performant as expected. That remains unconfirmed. What is confirmed is that Anthropic told Fortune the new model is a 'step change,' a sudden 2x would certainly fit the definition. We will find out in April how much of this is true. My own view is that the broad shape of this is correct even if some of the numbers are wrong. And if it is substantially accurate, then it also casts OpenAI's recent restructuring in a new light. If very large training runs are about to become essential to staying in the game, then a lot of their recent decisions, like dropping Sora, make even more sense strategically. For the public, this would mean the best models in the world are about to become much more expensive to serve, and therefore much more expensive to use. That will put pressure on rate limits, pricing, and subscription plans that are already subsidized to some unknown degree. Instead of becoming too cheap to meter, frontier intelligence may be about to become too expensive for most of humanity to afford. Second-order effects; compute, memory, and energy are about to become much more important than they already are. In the blog they describe the new model as not just an improvement, but having 'dramatically higher scores' than Opus 4.6 in coding and reasoning, and as being 'far ahead' of any other current models. If this is the new reality, then scale is about to become king in a whole new way. It would also mean, as usual, that Jensen wins again.

When is DICE going to make the fucking claymores visible? What was wrong with the way BF4 did it where instead of lasers you had wires sticking out of them so you could actually see them??? The lasers for claymores in BF6 are NOT VISIBLE 90% of the time.
