My brother paid ₦750,000 rent in January. By June, the landlord announced he had sold the house and everyone must leave within one month. When the tenants started asking questions, the landlord said the sale was "beyond his control." He said the new owner had his own plans for the property. The new owner also said that whatever agreement existed between the tenants and the former landlord was not his problem. Now the tenants have three weeks to find new apartments, pay new agents, and move out. Some of them who are thinking of suing are even already discouraged by the money and time it will take.
