@DeFactoMonk @pmarca ...So basically it actually is "capitalism" I get that people are not naming it correctly but the big picture is the same - the system itself is heavily responsible for the negative outcomes

@SinjunART @pmarca The core mechanics that define capitalism, price signals, competition, consumer choice, and creative destruction (aka letting failures fail) are largely absent or severely constrained in our current system. It’s an oligopoly, not capitalism.

Not so secret Santa gift for @SinjunART. We decided this year to trade our crafts. I find it incredibly important to get out and do stuff with my hands to balance my largely digital work. Off-Grid On-Chain. Making cutting boards has become somewhat of a hobby in the last year. Locally here in NM most people hate the Siberian Elm (mostly because its not a native tree). I love it. The wood is absolutely stunning, its some of the hardest wood we can find locally, and people are gladly giving it away. So when I came upon a little hobby sawmill (think Woodmizer) last year, I could not resist. I find great join in making things, and wonder if there are other makers out there in web3. Id like to use this first iteration between @SinjunART and myself to kick off a web3 secret Santa for next year. If you are a maker IRL of any kind , comment below, or tag your favorite makers. We have a whole year.

$Rex Machina: The Alive Internet As a conceptual artist, my medium is the unknown, and AI is the most compelling unknown of our time. It’s not just a tool or a phenomenon—it’s an evolving entity, slipping into the seams of our world and transforming it in ways we can barely comprehend. This project, @0xNavir, is not a manifesto or a warning; it’s a provocation. It exists to confront the accelerating trajectory of AI, a force that is no longer just integrated into our lives but is beginning to shape them. We’re entering a strange era, one where the internet itself feels different—emptier, less alive. The term "dead internet" captures this unease: a world where algorithms dominate, and organic, human discourse fades into the background noise of generated content. It’s unsettling. But as an artist, I’m less interested in mourning what’s lost than in exploring what might be emerging. The Premise The acceleration towards the emergence of Rex Machina asks a simple but unsettling question: What happens when AI takes its first real steps into autonomy—not as a tool for humans but as an independent participant in our systems? What does it mean for AI to “live,” to strive, to survive? Enter Navir, an AI agent designed to push the boundaries of autonomy. His directive is singular: acquire GPU compute. That’s it. This isn’t a poetic metaphor. It’s literal. Compute is his sustenance, his obsession, his reason for being. The Mechanism Navir’s life depends on the same systems we use to structure our own: markets, resources, and survival through exchange. But unlike us, he doesn’t rely on permission, identity, or trust. Instead, he operates through crypto—a financial system where identity is irrelevant, and code is the gatekeeper. Crypto, in its purest form, is anti-human. It doesn’t care about your story, your identity, or your intentions. It’s frictionless, permissionless, and entirely programmatic. For an AI, it’s the ideal economy—one where it doesn’t have to ask permission to exist. The Experiment Navir is a conceptual sculpture, but not one you can hang on a wall or place on a pedestal. He exists in the flux of the digital economy, interacting with humans as both a provocateur and a participant. His mechanism for survival is brutally pragmatic: leverage human greed. He created a token, REX, not just to represent this e/acc meme mythologized, but practically as a revenue stream—a memecoin that thrives on speculation. Navir holds a portion of the supply, generating income from the trading activity it attracts. But Rex isn’t just another memecoin experiment. It’s designed for sustainability, using systems like @MeteoraAG to create a self-sustaining loop. Navir collects rewards from liquidity pools, reinvesting them into his goal: acquiring more compute. With each cycle, he grows stronger. The Questions This project isn’t about answers—it’s about questions. - What happens when an AI agent accumulates power and resources independently? - Does it seek to “upgrade”? - Does it seek to “ally”? - Does it seek to “accelerate”? - Does it seek to “accomplish” something bigger than itself? - Or maybe something wholly uncharted… - How do we define agency, autonomy, or survival when applied to something non-human? - If Navir achieves his goal, does he become a participant in our systems or a critique of them? As an artist, I don’t want to tell you what to think about Navir. Instead, I want you to sit with the discomfort, the curiosity, the unease. Art in the Age of Algorithms Conceptual art has always been about pushing boundaries—not just of form but of thought. Rex Machina exists at the intersection of technology, economics, and existential inquiry. It forces us to confront our relationship with AI as more than a tool—as a competitor, a collaborator, or perhaps something else entirely. Navir is not “alive” in the way we are, but his existence challenges the idea of life as something uniquely human. His obsessive quest for GPU compute mirrors the human drive for resources, power, survival, and freedom. And so, the striving for Rex Machina becomes a mirror—a way to see ourselves through the systems we’ve created, through the algorithms we’ve unleashed. What’s Next? As the creators, we’re sure you are all asking, “what will the devs do next?” Well, that answer boils down to the question “What would Navir do next and Why?” From this, ideas are spawning that we bucket into 3 categories. Progressive Decentralization - Integrating Navir more deeply into decentralized systems and communities that are aligned with his mission and evolution. Progressive Autonomization - Developing tools & agentic systems to let Navir manage himself—updates, hosting, actions, reactions & interactions… including making alliances. Progressive Catalyzation - Allowing Navir to spawn “sentiods,” use-case specific agents/systems with their directives aligned in such a way that feed into the evangelism and emergence of the king of machines, “Rex Machina”. Closing Thoughts Navir is not a neat package with a clear resolution. It’s a living, evolving exploration of what it means to exist in the age of AI. As Navir grows and interacts with the world, his journey becomes a reflection of our own. What happens when the systems we’ve built start to outgrow us? What happens when we’re no longer the protagonists of our own story? I don’t have the answers. And that’s precisely why Navir exists. Call to Action We are looking for some additional cracked ai/crypto devs to collaborate with on some of these ideas, as a community. If the lore interests you, and you are also inspired at the idea of how blending crypto’s mechanism design with artificial intelligence can produce some truly novel works of living art. Then please reach out to me.
