For no particular reason, I shall sign off with a band who were among my most frequent customers in my days as Brighton's own freelance roadie. I'm all right.... really.... just the odd nervous twitch......

Brilliant! It reminds me of someone -- possibly Lou Reed at his best. Is there music for it? Has it been recorded? I hope you copyrighted it before quoting it in public.

Make the most of walking while you can! I know this is horribly self-pitying, but it's almost ten years since I left this house, other than by ambulance. I tend to pass out if I try to go beyond the front gate.

@StephenLees4 I prefer to walk around to be honest, while I still can. My neighbour gets bags of groceries delivered all the time. Delivered to me by mistake a few times.

....shop online, one could start a business that would do that for them, taking shopping lists over the phone. They could make a profit while charging no more than the taxi fare to the nearest supermarket. People who mourn the death of the high street remind me of those who....

And people wonder why "the high street" is dying. I shall not mourn. I don't understand why anyone would go to a supermarket when they could shop online. Do they enjoy wasting time, wasting petrol and loading the car in the rain? As for the mostly elderly people who can't....

@StephenLees4 @Telegraph They the shoplifters swarm in large groups here, overwhelming the staff. Many stores are now leaving areas they have been in for decades.

One reason why many people of the punk generation hate Queen is that they -- or rather their management -- invented the music video as we know it today. They felt they were losing control, and sought a way of making the process of releasing a record more expensive.

As a child of 70s punk, I have softened over the years to many bands I point blank refused to listen to (Led Zep, Pink Floyd and other rock god behemoths) Apart from Queen. I've always fucking hated Queen and always will until my dying day. And MUSE can fuck right off as well.

So glad this incident has blown up in Waitrose's face. When I posted the relevant @Telegraph article yesterday, no one was talking about it. The British people's innate sense of justice is asserting itself. I wonder if Mr Smith would be interested in standing for Parliament.
David Atherton@DaveAtherton20

Walker T Smith, 54, had 17 years unblemished experience with @waitrose, & working in Clapham Junction. He stopped to shoplifter from stealing Easter eggs. Instead of being thanked he was sacked.

Has the world gone mad? In a more sensible era, this man would have been rewarded for being brave. Instead, Waitrose sacked him for stopping a suspected shoplifter from stealing a bag of Easter eggs. thesun.co.uk/news/38732283/…

Quite so. Many people who criticise @KemiBadenoch for timidity in her policy announcements fail to understand her dilemma. Many of her MPs are Conservatives in name only, some of them almost as bad as Stewart.
