The timeline and events are weird, as you know. But these media tie-ins do fill the gaps for the most part, and give a tad more context. Same goes for "Darkside Chronicles" (Operation Javier) and "Revelations" (although half of it feels like a fever dream as well). Enjoy!

..., Infinite Darkness (2021, first 2 EPs are flashbacks right after Code Veronica, else set between RE4 & RE5), Damnation (2012, set between RE5 & RE6), Vendetta (2017, features Miss Chambers, between RE6 & RE7), Death Island (2023, one year prior to RE7, and it's.. er... yeah).

Info for @JohnWolfeYT - since you miss certain characters and story threads in "Requiem", I highly recommend taking a closer look at the animated movies & animated TV show. Chronological order: Degeneration (2008, plays 1yr after RE4, features Miss Redfield and Mr Kennedy), ...

@discord Reg. "other means of age verification", 2 easy solutions IMHO 1) Discord is 13+, if you're on the platform >=5yrs, you're automatically tagged "adult" 2) Nitro needs connected banking info for subscription - usually these aren't given to users <18yo System already implemented!

We’ve seen some questions about our age assurance update and we want to share more clarity. We know how important these changes are to our community. Here’s what we want you to know: ‣‣‣ 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲 𝗮 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗿 𝘂𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝗮𝗻 𝗜𝗗 𝘁𝗼 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱. ‣‣‣ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘃𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗷𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗲 𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗱𝗼 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗮𝗴𝗲. You need to be an adult to access age-restricted experiences such as age-restricted servers and channels or to modify certain safety settings. For the majority of adult users, we will be able to confirm your age group using information we already have. We use age prediction to determine, with high confidence, when a user is an adult. This allows many adults to access age-appropriate features without completing an explicit age check. When additional confirmation is required, we offer multiple privacy-forward options through trusted partners. ‣‣‣ 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲. 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝘁. ‣‣‣ 𝗜𝗗𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗱. ‣‣‣ 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝗴𝗲 — 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗶𝘁. 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁. We hope this helps to clarify some of your questions. This work is important because building a safer Discord requires a thoughtful approach alongside the communities who make Discord special. --------------- Frequently Asked Questions 𝘞𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘐 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘶𝘦 𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘋𝘪𝘴𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘥? ‣‣‣ No. The vast majority of people can continue using Discord exactly as they do today, without ever being asked to confirm their age. In a minority of cases when additional confirmation is required, we offer multiple privacy-forward options through trusted partners. 𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘥𝘰 𝘐 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘨𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦? ‣‣‣ You must be a confirmed adult to access age-restricted content and experiences such as age-restricted servers and channels or to modify certain safety settings. The majority of Discord users don’t access age restricted content and will never go through a facial age estimation flow or ID verification. In the minority of cases where we cannot confirm you as an adult and you need to access age-restricted areas and settings, then you will be asked to go through additional steps. 𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘋𝘪𝘴𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘥 𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘢? ‣‣‣ We only get your age from the ID verification process and an estimated age range from Facial Age Estimation. We use this information for safety purposes and to help us deliver age appropriate experiences on Discord. We will not use your age assurance information to target you with advertisements, and we don't sell your data. You can control how we use your data. 𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘍𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘈𝘨𝘦 𝘌𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 (”𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘰 𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧𝘪𝘦”) 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬? ‣‣‣ If you choose Facial Age Estimation, you’ll be prompted to record a short video selfie of your face. The Facial Age Estimation technology runs entirely on your device in real time when you are performing the verification. That means that facial scans never leave your device, and Discord and vendors never receive it. We only get your age group. 𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘪𝘴 𝘮𝘺 𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘱 𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘢 𝘴𝘢𝘧𝘦 𝘰𝘯 𝘋𝘪𝘴𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘥? ‣‣‣ Discord’s age assurance experience was designed to respect user privacy. We are partnering with dedicated age assurance vendors who specialize in performing these verifications in a privacy-forward way. These vendors were not involved in the September 2025 data breach of our customer service agent. ‣‣‣ Our vendors perform these verifications in a way to minimize the data collected and stored. For FAE, the video selfie is processed on device and never stored. IDs are processed to get your age only and then deleted. Your identity is never associated with your Discord account. 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘮𝘺 𝘐𝘋 𝘰𝘳 𝘧𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯? 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘪𝘯𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘥𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘦𝘪𝘷𝘦? ‣‣‣ Discord only gets your age. That’s it. Your identity is never associated with your account. 𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘭 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬? ‣‣‣ We leverage an advanced machine learning model developed at Discord to predict whether a user falls into a particular age group based on patterns of user behavior and several other signals associated with their account on Discord. We only use these signals to assign users to an age group when our confidence level is high; when it isn't, users go through our standard age assurance flow to confirm their age. We do not use your message content in the age estimation model. 𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘥𝘰 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘴𝘢𝘧𝘦𝘵𝘺 𝘧𝘪𝘭𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬? ‣‣‣ Discord’s content safety filters are part of our broader Teen Safety Assist and safety-by-default approach. They help reduce exposure to certain categories of potentially sensitive image-based media, especially for teens. ‣‣‣ Mature Sexual Media Filter: Helps identify visual media that may contain sexually explicit or suggestive material involving adults ‣‣‣ Graphic Media Filter: Helps identify image-based media that may contain violent or potentially disturbing visual material ‣‣‣ These filters apply only to images and videos. They do not scan text messages, voice, or calls, and they are designed to support age-appropriate experiences while preserving private conversations. --------------- For more details check out our blog here: discord.com/safety/how-dis…

Discord will soon be expanding teen safety protections worldwide including teen-by-default settings and age assurance designed to create safer experiences for teens. We’re also launching recruitment for Discord's first Teen Council, creating a space for teen voices to help shape our safety and wellbeing work. Applications are now open for US teens ages 13–17. @TeamYouTube I do NOT want @YouTube / @TeamYouTube to apply anything to my content. I (and those I help w/ audio) want to fully opt out. Do NOT enforce things on us. This isn't about any apps either. The web page is affected. Even if you opt out of enhancements, the options are still there!

We typically apply these enhancements when we expect they will improve the viewing experience, but we understand that some creators might prefer their content to sound as close to the original as possible. To ensure every viewer can watch & hear your content, their individual accessibility settings might take precedence in some cases. All the details on the resource we previously shared. Btw, for viewers still being able to use these features after the creator has already disabled them, they can try relaunching the app & making sure that they have its latest version. Also, they can clear their cache/cookies as it usually does the trick: goo.gle/3Nu9NQ9

Just found out, that @YouTube will have 3(!) so called "Audio Enhancement" features: 01) Stable Volume (constant signal boost/compression of feed) 02) Voice Boost (signal boost based upon voice range) 03) Consistent Music (Youtube Music, their "name" for Loudness Normalization)

Today is the 20th anniversary of the 6th @ocremix album "Chrono Symphonic" (OCRA-0006, rlsd 03-JAN-2006). Time flies. I still consider this project to be one of my best works. Something timeless, bringing joy to listeners to this very day. Great memories tinyurl.com/OCRA-0006

@TeamYouTube add., @TeamYouTube/@YouTube - I am helping a handful of creators reg. audio, just asked them about this setting. They opted out - yet the "Stable Volume" setting is still applied to their videos! Not only that, the new "Voice Boost" setting can't be turned off either. Not okay!

Another huge issue I have with this, @YouTube/@YouTubeCreators , is that these features are Auto Opt-In. For both creators and viewers. Audio Enhancements should be AUTO OPT-OUT on default. Let both creators and users decide how something is consumed. Do not assume for them.

While these "Audio Enhancement" features are a nice concept on paper, @Youtube. In reality they interfere too much w/ carefully crafted audio feeds. Especially in hindsight with the upcoming availability / implementation of IMAF. Or as Google and Samsung calls it "Eclipsa Audio"

And please let me NOT get started on Steinberg's forced obsolescence of the VST2 plugin format - as only company that will do this w/their DAWs. Making it eventually impossible to use VST2 tools - to force users on to VST3.x, despite VST2 still working fine on arm64/native M1.

We've spent a lot of money on software tools & will eventually never be able to use that equipment because <reasons>. Our software realm is short lived, I am aware. But there are not enough End-of-Life plans - especially not for legitimate users. We also need to talk about that.

This topic spans to more areas. Incl. "mandatory online profiles (OS)", specific hardware requirements prior to installing, etc. What about a rise in DAWs and instruments/plugs that ask you to be "always online" now to even work or have random online checks for valid licenses?

This is why people rightfully dislike C/R as copy protection mechanic. As positive example: one company that stated "there will be a contingency plan in case of ever closing our doors" - @Spectrasonics - stating "we'll provide final patches and proper license codes in this case"

The loss of access thanks to C/R going bust also happened to many other companies. One I'm still salty about is @fxpansion (now ROLI). Company basically stopped maintaining tools overnight, then silently dropped plugins w/o warning. No updates, no plain serial, now unusable.

Another audio realm comparison to #StopKillingGames would be copy protection - e.g. Challenge/Response. If a company that uses C/R goes bust, you'll loose access to those tools. This happened w/ Camel Audio (bought by Apple, got integrated into Logic Pro, Win users were SOL).

As a follow-up. Online-only dependency has started spreading beyond video games as well. (thread) Examples: Adobe "forced from perpetual to subscription only" plans. Both Avid and Waves tried this and had to paddle back, others hide the availability of perpetual licenses...
Studio Compyfox@StudioCompyfox

A lot of video games are forced online, made to be "eventually obsolete", and/or are outright removed from our game libraries. The #StopKillingGames campaign wants to start a conversation about that & push for more VG preservation. Make your voice heard: stopkillinggames.com
