@TaffSpur @pwsimerimiaw Because the NHS doesn’t pay them enough to compete with private treatments. You may have noticed that what your NHS appointment gives you is not very much.

Why is it 4 months to see my dentist on the NHS but privately I can see him this week, in the same building, in the same chair! And if I want Invisalign or whitening they fall over themselves to see me! Can even arrange a payment plan!

Thanks for your thought. I would obviously, and have obviously, done this when required/possible. But when elderly people have emergencies like they did, the NHS remains the best option. But again, many thanks for your thought.

I’ve received some truly heartbreaking news, please read. Mike, who has helped me build Andy’s Bet Club over the past few years, was diagnosed with bowel cancer at the start of this year. He’s been through six months of chemotherapy, but before even finishing his treatment, the cancer became so aggressive that nothing further can be offered here other than palliative care. There is now one final treatment option available to him, but it involves major surgery and it isn’t covered by the NHS, meaning it has to be funded privately. This is someone I’ve worked closely with for years, and I honestly can’t put into words how gutted I am for him, his family and his daughters. The amount needed is huge, but I’m hoping that as a community we can come together and help Mike in any way we can. I’ll leave the fundraiser link in the replies. Thank you so much to anyone who’s able to donate or share this post.
