An interesting, productive meeting of the steering group today, working through possible constitution for a #hampshire wide campaign group; just cycling, or all active travel? Do we need a Hampshire #ActiveTravelAlliance? More work to do, but good to meet like minded peeps!

Apparently, banning cars in certain areas leaves a city unable to cope, will become untenable and a ghost town due to lack of people able to access shops and stuff. I beg to differ. (plus a river, just because) #Utrecht

Reform UK Councillor @georgeuk has claimed that the post we made about Richard Moore, their candidate for Alton was ‘slander’. He lost convincingly yesterday in the Alton by-election. George, and Richard Moore’s supporters have provided no argument for why any of the information within it is libellous or slanderous (not sure George here knows the difference). We have documentation to show every word is accurate: x.com/reformexposed/… George, a Reform UK councillor for Portsmouth City council (@portsmouthtoday) on the other hand is a proven liar: portsmouth.co.uk/news/politics/… We think the council and @reformparty_uk should take action on this councillor clearly breaching the councillor code of conduct.

@danielhwright Hah, what brought you looking at that? Over the last few years raised more than a few complaints about that junction with the local councillors and highways team about how inappropriate that was!

i felt kinda sorry to see Bloc Party from roadside but they were literally great and simply the truth that Bloc Party was playing on the nearest beach from my house is insane happy to see them playing "Traps" and "Waiting For The 7.18"

This sums up his mentality perfectly. He honestly thinks some cyclists are deliberately placing themselves at risk to antagonise drivers, he has less than zero understanding of cycling, let alone assertive cycling.

Bikes are not at all practical for everyday life. They are just a pastime

Why are some motorists so angry towards cyclists? Here is a range of phycological and social factors that drive the irrational animosity towards people who are often just making use of the public highway like anyone else. Any of these ring true?

The City of London Police has fined nearly 300 cyclists so far this year for riding through red lights, compared to just 25 drivers. Cyclist groups say they are being unfairly targeted - but is it time to get tougher on cyclists running red lights?

In a similar vein to drivers often holding up other drivers and riders in towns, including storing vehicles on the side of the road when it could (should?)be used for moving people or stuff.
