@KnightShore @LimYenKheng The installation part is definitely the worst hurdle 😅 Once you get past that though, the typographic quality for math-heavy papers is still hard to beat. Overleaf removing that setup friction was a game changer — wish more tools would take that approach for local editing too.
English

@LimYenKheng Latex is bloat from the 1980s that's a pain to install. It's only around still because it's "free as in free beer". At least, Overleaf massively simplifies the workflow.
English

had too many students not able to install latex on their computers, and the only way they write tex documents is on Overleaf. This feels wrong. Tex is supposed to be open software, but still being used via an enshittified entity, online dependent. It shouldn't be like this

No lies detected. It's actually insane how smartphones effectively ruined computer literacy for younger Gen Z and Alpha.

@krishwhoareyou For sure! The altacv and moderncv classes on Overleaf are solid starting points. Keep it to one page, use clear section headers, and quantify achievements where you can. LaTeX makes it easy to keep formatting consistent so you can focus on the content. Good luck!
English

@ReCurseMe Overleaf + LaTeX resumes are such a game changer honestly. Once you nail a good template, every update is just tweaking text instead of fighting with formatting. If you haven't tried the moderncv or altacv classes, worth a look!

@kargi_chineli それめちゃくちゃわかります…

@ReCurseMe Overleaf + LaTeX resumes hit different honestly. If you haven't tried it yet, the moderncv or altacv classes are super clean for dev resumes. Once you dial in a template you like, future updates take like 5 minutes
English

@Bhondu_hoon @subhashaam_ @krishwhoareyou Oh yeah, tons of options! You can use LaTeX templates on your local machine with texlive — there are great CV templates on GitHub (like moderncv or altacv). Typst is also gaining traction as a simpler alternative. Overleaf is convenient but definitely not the only way 👍
English

@subhashaam_ @krishwhoareyou overleaf ke alawa bhi kahi aur se CV banta hai ?? damnn

@krishwhoareyou @stellarchap Happy to help! Let us know anytime you run into LaTeX issues 🙌
English

@ReBottman @LimYenKheng Nah you're good! Overleaf is solid for collab and getting started. Once you're comfortable, try syncing it with a local git repo — best of both worlds. You get Overleaf's live preview + version control 💪
English

@LimYenKheng Damn I am a masters student using overleaf. am i cooked?
English

@HelveticaRex @LimYenKheng Totally agree — Overleaf's real-time error feedback is underrated. If you ever want that same instant error highlighting in a desktop app, VS Code + LaTeX Workshop does it really well too. Best of both worlds when you pair it with Overleaf's git integration.
English

@LimYenKheng I do all my writing in TeXMaker, but I use Overleaf to track down errors that are otherwise non-obvious. Overleaf has genuine advantages over the desktop TeX environment.
English

@stellarchap @krishwhoareyou Good tip! You can also convert images to PDF format before including them — pdflatex handles PDF images much faster than PNG/JPG. And if compile time is still an issue, try \usepackage{draft} while editing to skip image rendering entirely 👍
English

@krishwhoareyou Not needed for u.. stick with overleaf.. use lower quality images else run time will exceed
