There are those who get out into the field, who engage early, who do the training, who show their work, who own the outcomes. Then there are those show up shortly before delivery time to weigh in with their suggestions or concerns…lnkd.in/gFqBaDvZ lnkd.in/g8NqF-pK

🌊 It's hard to ignore climate change when it's knocking at your front door. 🇺🇸 But as rising seas and stronger storms threaten Virginia’s Tangier Island, some residents are skeptical about the #ClimateCrisis. Their homes could be wiped out yet they're set on staying. Why?🧵

March 14, Albert Einstein’s birth date. In some parts of the world this date is also known as Pi Day. In November 2019, in its General Conference, UNESCO, announced Pi Day as the International Day of Mathematics. Thanks @livemint for the “PLAIN FACTS” piece.

@JoeTalkShow As I remember it, the song is about how badly treated US veterans were when they came home and tried to get hired, homed after Vietnam. It seems a very patriotic sentiment from here. Also I think he raised millions for veterans on that tour. Am I wrong?

Bruce Springsteen did "Born in the USA." We cheered him on. We didn't realize it was an anti-American anthem. You see, it's hard to understand the words because of how horrible his singing voice is. I don't know why he's trending.. but, be clear, he's no American hero.

@JoeTalkShow But is it "anti-American"? For me, it is a candid American anti-anthem. Yet I understand how easily one might confuse these two very different things.

True story. A few months ago I was approached by a popular online pub to do some writing. They said "this is what we're offering per article" (it was low)....

@DanAshby04 Tests can indirectly cause a reduction in quality too. Tests can and often do allow a poorly designed solution to persist.

@byteboxer @MrAlanCooper To me, the whole scheme is like playing bets. Many pay to play, a few take away real wins.

@ministryoftest As I test, I code/script testing tasks that (a) can be effectively done by machine and (b) are worth repeating, to free up human time and attention for testing work which humans do best.

@BethMooreLPM Jesus lifted up the poor, the sick, and the outcasts. He chastised the Pharisees and money changers. He respected his women followers as full persons. He chose a spiritual role rather than casting himself as a political Messiah. His example makes my political choices clear.

@FionaCCharles @michaelbolton I'd agree. An interesting perspective: hbr.org/2021/03/ai-sho… Of course, these debates have raged for decades. In the 1950s, some prominent computing technology pioneers were already building a strong case for human augmentation vis-à-vis AI as the more fruitful ultimate aim.

@michaelbolton That would mean changing the goal and the mindset. Thinking of technology that enables and enhances human capability, rather than trying to replace it. There’s a powerful anti-human impulse behind a lot of managerial thinking—and behind a lot of technological development.

What is the most absurd piece of corporate penny pinching you have come across? I saw one big corporation that stopped giving company phones to mobile, home based staff, who got a company SIM card and were told to put it in their personal phones while they were working.
