It's hard to convey the excitement of seeing SUPERMAN in the theater in 1979. There had never really been anything like it. A huge blockbuster superhero movie that felt fully grounded in our world. Watch this clip. That sense of awe from the crowd is how the audience felt as they watched. And John Williams' score remains my favorite of his in a career of genius work. The screenwriting is emotional and truthful, with a sense of fun and discovery. It breaks your heart as much as it exhilarates you. That line, "Who's got you?" absolutely KILLED in the theatre. Huge laughs. Such an amazing moment. W this clip, that sense of atchawe from the crowd is how the audience felt while watching.r Reeve. Equal kudos to Margot Kidder. Add to them heavyweights like Glenn Ford, Gene Hackman, and Marlon Brando. My goodness, what an achievement. Big budget filmmaking at its finest. I love this movie.
