@NBAPaint1 @calvingonba I didn’t notice many of them consistently using and exploring those analysis approaches and growing them over time, it was always more a “see a stat page and come up with any way to insult LeBron” and not think twice or use the approach elsewhere

The NBA presented three comprehensive anti-tanking concepts to its Board of Governors on Wednesday, with modifications expected to each before a formal vote in May, per ESPN sources. 1. 18 teams in draft lottery (seeds 7-15 in each conference) – flattened odds, with bottom 10 teams having an 8% chance, the remaining 20% odds distributed in decreasing order for 11 through 18, and and a lottery drawing for all 18 picks. 2) 22 teams in lottery using 2-year record (seeds 7-15, plus the four playoff first round exits in both conferences). Lottery teams would reach a minimum win total floor in each season, such as 25 wins. If a team falls short of the floor, it gets slotted to meet the floor. Top 4 drawn as part of lottery, as is currently. 3) 18 teams in a "5 by 5" lottery – bottom 5 teams have equal odds for the top pick, with lottery formed for picks 1-5. Bottom 5 teams have a floor at 10; those that fall out of top 5 get sorted in a separate drawing.

My simple solution to tanking. Phase 1: Award preliminary ping pong balls using a weighted inverse performance index adjusted for strength of schedule, injury-corrected win probability, and a 12-variable regression model updated nightly by a committee of actuaries sponsored by Emirates. Phase 2: Preliminary ping pong balls are distributed by an independent custodial agent following a 60-day comment period in which all 30 franchises may submit objections in writing then all 14 non-playoff teams are evaluated by a Warren Commission-type panel that assigns each a parameter in a simple ridge regression model. the coefficients are public. It's all powered by AWS.

I think there is a fair compromise here. MVPs should be held to a higher standard. They’ve almost never played fewer than 65 games. All-NBA teams are a different matter. It’s happened a ton throughout history. The threshold there can and should be lowered.

They usually went wrong by calling the guy generational. There have only been two generational prospects this century. LeBron and Victor. If there was more than one of them per generation they wouldn’t be generational. It’s just a really overused word.

@philfanacc Facts lol what I said. A lot of dribble moves are only viable if you’re skilled enough to make the defender pay if he challenges wrong- if you can’t teach when he reaches you just got picked, if you can’t dive to the basket if he doesn’t bite on your crossover it won’t work

The agents who did it are back on the job, got paid. A bonus and have been reported for felony assault and battery on us citizens since. Thoughts?
