@AdamsArtist Banksy is far from being an artist. No technical ability and the disrespect for the highest form of art (architecture) is astounding. Warhol isn't an artist either for the record.

"Banksy lacks most of the characteristics of a serious artist: originality, complexity, universality, ambiguity, depth and insight into human nature and the world generally... The essential problem is not that Banksy holds unexamined prejudices or that he is mediocre as an artist; it is that he is lazy. He never truly challenges us because we can predict his positions on all topics. It is symbolic of a lack of public critical thinking that Banksy has grown so famous" Extract from "Artivism" (Imprint Academic, 2022)

Programma 13:00 – 13:30 Welkom 13:30 – 14:00 Olaf – Kaspa Nederland 14:00 – 14:30 TheVisualAye – Menselijke creatie in een permanent systeem 14:45 – 15:15 Seb – KasMap 15:15 – 16:00 Paul van Son – Kaspa Industrial Initiative 16:00 – 17:00 Borrel ---------------------------------- ENGLISH 9 days until the first Kaspa meetup in the Netherlands 🇳🇱 On Saturday, February 7, we’re hosting the very first Kaspa meetup in the Netherlands. As the year draws to a close, most people and projects tend to wind down, savoring a well earned pause. Not the Kaspa community. The sheer volume of innovative ideas and projects many already launched or others rapidly taking shape over the past few months is truly remarkable. The energy here is infectious and I can't wait to dive in and contribute. $KAS community, I heart you!

@postanika Firstly, it’s not art…. It is hype, propaganda, self indulgence and poor taste executed with an anti aesthetic aplomb.

"It is an eye-watering reminder that the most influential and expensive digital artists at the top of the pyramid might have arrived there because they are very good internet users, not necessarily good artists. It is crucial for the digital art community, as well as the media that covers it, to recognise that this reactionary, adolescent approach does not have to define digital art. Digital art does not need to be viral or so exhaustingly post-internet. It does not have to be defined or governed by the rules of the internet at all. Cryptocurrency culture has led to a paradigm shift wherein viral fame and shock value, rather than conceptual heft, seem to determine value, and consequently even enabled some artists to present at an Art Basel fair without passing through the traditional art world filters. The implication seems to be that those filters are somehow incapable of vetting digital art and that doing so requires different metrics and channels. Ironically, most digital art that successfully passes through those filters has been much more likely to stand the test of time." – Sarp Kerem Yavuz Digital art today has a narcissism problem in: The Art Newspaper, 22 December 2025

@ahistoryinart This work summarizes the 1950’s quite well. Bland, beige and boring (much like the painting)

'Seven Brussels Sprouts.' (1955) Delicately painted with meticulous detail, Eliot Hodgkin captures the crisp waxy green beauty of a vegetable that in the year this work was painted was very often boiled to oblivion.

@desultor @bryanbrinkman The reason for still images being more relevant and powerful to humans is related to optics - letting the brain contemplate and think, like reading a book. More images doesn’t equate simply to more thought processes or value. ‘Less is more’

@deeperflows @bryanbrinkman There is a hierarchy, and always has been. Digital sculpting (3D) takes precedent since one can create both still image and animation from it. Can you imagine what Michelangelo or Bernini could achieve with this technology.
