Imagine Kaspa is a city with a public noticeboard. A node is like a town clerk. They keep a copy of everything on the noticeboard, check that new announcements are legitimate, and pass them along to other clerks around the city. Anyone can be a clerk. It costs almost nothing. No special equipment needed. A miner is like someone competing to write the next official announcement. To earn the right to write it, they have to solve a really hard puzzle, millions of guesses per second using powerful specialized computers. First one to solve it wins, posts the announcement, and gets paid in KAS. The difference? - Clerks check the work. Miners do the work. - Clerks need a basic computer. Miners need expensive hardware. - Clerks earn no reward. Miners earn KAS. - Every miner is also a clerk, but not every clerk is a miner. In the screenshots is a full explanation. In KasMap - click "My KasMap" - scroll down and click "add integration" - click "generate token" - directly copy the token In MyKAI Node - click "Settings" - click "Integrations" - check Conntect to Kasmap - and paste the token and verify. Now your node is linked to you KasMap profile. You can see the status of your node on your profile page. Later this will be plotted on a map as well.

No special router or DNS settings needed - no DNS changes, your default ISP/router settings work fine - no manual port forwarding required for the node to contribute to the network - the installer automatically adds a Windows Firewall rule for the standard Kaspa port (16111) - the node includes built-in peer discovery, so it connects to the network out of the box. - auto-configuration for port forwarding so your node accept incoming connections from other Kaspa nodes. In the settings page you can adjust preferences with a click, and then you hit save.
