If your goalie is battling mental health issues during a playoff push it's way better he tell you "not today" than have him say nothing a go out and play horribly. That won't help the team, or his next performance. STFU already.

@Timmync76 @EverydaySens Ooook there. In today's NHL I would say 100% of coaches and players lie about their health/injuries. You can call it a lie, sportsmanship, strategy...but yes. And this is exactly why they do lie, to prevent situations like this.

Absolute mess on social media over the past few days. I see it two ways... if the guy needed the day off, okay. But if he could've gone, he should've. Odd all around and nobody knows the actual reasoning.
Either way, he's been great of late. They're going to need more of that down the stretch. Season is far from over.

Lots of comments about Ullmark & his not playing the last game. No matter who you are, what your job is or how much money you make, mental illness can affect you. Did the team need him? Yes. But this is a daily lived reality with mental illness.

Unfortunately, the best response from Green would have been that he yanked him to give him rest.
For the record, Green has been pretty good at protecting his players, just a misstep after an emotional game.

Saying this when NOTHING has been said about the nature of Ullmark’s absence, which may just been a routine game off, is beyond the pale. Let alone from your team’s broadcaster. If I’m Andlauer I’m fuming about this.
