@ScoutRocco @MarcMethot3 I'm with you until your last paragraph. If it is mental health, sucking it up generally only makes it worse. If it wasn't just being tired, but it was mental health, it's an injury like any other, and assuming it was significant enough to miss a start, then that's a fair reason.

For sure, you can't put a guy out there if it's literally unsafe and he's seeing stars from a head injury. Gudas went out there last night and answered the bell, while injured, because that's what was expected of him. He did his job and he handled his shit so his teammates didnt have to. Don't tell me you're too tired to play a huge game in a playoff race after you sign the big money deal. Sad. I'm all for mental health support, honestly I am, but the world keeps spinning and there's people who are relying on you inside that locker room in pursuit of a collective goal. Get it together.

Some of Sens twitter didn't interact during the years in the basement of the league and it shows. A lot of people getting real stressed out while our team is in striking distance in the best division in hockey in recent memory.

Idk if go that far for the standard as you had indisputable generational talents playing simultaneously like (Gretzky/Lemieux, Crosby/Ovi/McDavid), but I agree that the term gets thrown around too much. Currently you've got Crosby, Ovi, and McDavid for sure. Arguably Makar.
JFresh@JFreshHockey

ppl get too caught up on the generational label in my eyes, to be generational, Celebrini has to become the best player in the world, simple as that. that's the bar. it's a ridiculously high bar, and he can have an all time great career even without clearing it - plenty have

is it fair to feel frustrated about Ullmark’s availability? Yeah. But some of the posts I’m seeing from Sens fans on this go way too far.

@ScoutRocco @MarcMethot3 I think you bring up an excellent point when it comes to what players should play through. I love hockey culture of playing through the pain. Though I think it depends on the severity of the injury. If a guy has a severe concussion, probably not great to encourage them to play.

Why do we applaud athletes who play through physical pain and injury, yet also try to applaud those who take a break for mental pain and injury? The guy who breaks his wrist is expected to tape it up Adam Banks style and we say this player gets it, but when the $8M goalie has his feelings hurt we let him off the hook and start yelling "but the stigma!" at everyone. These guys get paid millions of dollars in exchange for being in the spotlight, being expected to be okay with idiot media like me ripping them all the time on public forums, and losing their privacy/ability to do groceries in public without getting bothered by fans. This is the deal and this is the tradeoff. Unfortunately, they don't have the luxury of the same set of standards the everyday person does, and this includes being expected to battle through adversity (mental or otherwise). Is this necessarily fair? Maybe not. But nobody put a gun to his head when he signed the contract, either. Get your ass in the net.

Unfortunately, the best response from Green would have been that he yanked him to give him rest. For the record, Green has been pretty good at protecting his players, just a misstep after an emotional game.
Everyday Sens@EverydaySens

Hope to see Ullmark put up a strong performance tonight. #GoSensGo Absolute mess on social media over the past few days. I see it two ways... if the guy needed the day off, okay. But if he could've gone, he should've. Odd all around and nobody knows the actual reasoning. Either way, he's been great of late. They're going to need more of that down the stretch. Season is far from over.

@JBeau19 @MarcMethot3 This attitude is exactly what I'm talking about. Recovery isn't linear, there are setbacks. A fair argument is for management to hedge against this happening again. But everyone also though Leevi was ready to play NHL Backup games, and that was not the case.

@Sens2025 @Joe_hockey_321 @MarcMethot3 You need to tone it down lol. While some arguments are justifiable (like Marc's) there's also plenty of fans who feel entitled or are throwing tantrums because a goalie isn't playing. If it is mental health, that's more important. If it's not, then yes, not cool.

@CursedSens @Joe_hockey_321 @MarcMethot3 Are you well? Did anybody say otherwise? The luxury of a million dollar athlete picking and choosing when he feels good enough to play is unacceptable. Take the time off, or show up to work.

@MarcMethot3 As I said in another thread, I think it comes down to what the issue is. I only disagree with you on if it is mental health, then it should be treated like the injury it is. No different than when Stolarz caught a puck high in warmups and the leafs had to switch to Woll.

I’ll add this because I see some of you mentioning his mental health which is understandable. The coach alluded to Ullmark being “tired.” It’s normal to feel fatigue this time of year for players. It’s a long season, especially when you’re in a playoff hunt. It’s taxing. He’s been playing well and the team needs him. So it’s reasonable to ask questions when your number one takes a night off, particularly at a time when the team needs him most. I appreciate the discourse around it, but I’m standing firm that he should have been available to play.

@Joe_hockey_321 @MarcMethot3 Obviously there are consequences for anything. But bootstrap theory when it comes to mental health doesn't work. I agree that people should get help, but recovery isn't linear, there are setbacks. Even after getting help.

@MarcMethot3 @CursedSens Mental health or tired, who cares.. You need help go get it, but it costs you your job.. You can’t just play when you’re feeling good.. Much like a roofer can’t tell a client I’ll finish what I started in a few weeks..

@zachjackdad @MarcMethot3 Yes, this is a prime example of why coaches should do this. And Green, for the record, has been very good at this exact thing. But I think he also has the wherewithal to know that if he just came out and said it was mental health it would have been an equal or larger media frenzy

@SlappinDa @MarcMethot3 I'm not even at that point with Green. People can make mistakes, it's alright. But I agree with the general sentiment. If it's Mental Health, not on Linus. If it isn't, then it is.

@MarcMethot3 @CursedSens If Ullmark stated it was mental health related and Green gave the explanation he did...and hasn't corrected his initial statement...Green should be punted to the curb. Otherwise this is entirely on Linus.

@BelikeMeThx @MarcMethot3 To be fair we're all making assumptions. But given what's happened already this year, approaching it from a mental health side isn't unjustified.

@MarcMethot3 @CursedSens I doubt in today’s day if Ullmark went to Green and was like “man, I’m not feeling good mentally Greener - I just need to chill. Don’t think I’d be good in the net” that Green says what he says. He said it cuz Ullmark fucked the team over. Not sure why people can figure this out.

@MarcMethot3 I mean, given the media attention and stigma, and the nature of mental health, I'm pretty sure the coach isn't going to come out and say that mental health is the issue. But point taken, if it isn't mental health related, I 100% agree that a last minute self-benching isn't cool.

@CursedSens Some things are absolutely bigger than the game but the coach said he was tired? I haven’t seen any statements suggesting it’s “mental health” related.
