🚨 NEW: Keir Starmer is travelling to the Middle East today to hold talks on reopening the Strait of Hormuz

Tinubu has lost control of the country, Nigeria. He’s trying his hardest to maintain scraps now.

BBC Africa anchor, Waihiga Mwaura made this post about his interview with @aonanuga1956. Screen 1: "I spoke to Nigerian President Tinubu's comms advisor Bayo Onanuga on #FocusOnAfrica about the recent attack in Jos (22+ deaths), why President Tinubu met the affected families only at the airport and why there have been no arrests so far." Then Dali Viq, a Kenyan, commented. Screen 2: "Terrible... Sorry Nigerians. You don't have a government and only God can literally save you. May the Almighty God rescue you and give you justice and peace." Me: As a Nigerian just listen to Onanuga and tell me if you are not ashamed that this is the best we can have as a presidential spokesman. He is not even ashamed even when telling obvious lies and so incoherent. #unmutedthepodcast #tegatalks

President Trump says the US will help manage “traffic buildup” in the Strait of Hormuz, adding “big money will be made” and that Iran can begin reconstruction. Under the ceasefire, Iran will collect transit fees to fund rebuilding. 🔴 LIVE updates: aje.news/9k7fl9

Perhaps Nigeria is a very terrible country in ways we fail to understand. You cannot celebrate to leave your home country in this manner.

I welcome the ceasefire agreement reached overnight, which will bring a moment of relief to the region and the world. Together with our partners we must do all we can to support and sustain this ceasefire, turn it into a lasting agreement and re-open the Strait of Hormuz.

Anti‑war protesters in the US say Donald Trump’s two‑week pause on attacking Iran “doesn’t solve a single problem,” and are calling for his immediate removal from office.

Bandits have invaded the Baga community in Shiroro local government of Niger state and ended up killing five villagers. One hundred and fifty (150) villagers were also said to have been abducted after setting several houses in the villages ablaze. A reliable source from the community told our correspondent that the gunmen, besides being armed with sophisticated weapons, also used bombs to wreak havoc in the villages. Many of the villagers who took to their heels to take refuge in the bush were gunned down, while many were rounded up and abducted. The source said,”The gunmen are many and are believed to have entered the community from neighbouring Kaduna state to wreak havoc. “Some men of the local vigilante members who tried to repel the gunmen were shot and sustained varying degrees of injuries and rushed to the hospital for treatment.
