Well put. The way England (and the UK as a whole) is promoted to tourists would have flabbergasted past generations. They were self-consciously modern and innovative people, and never conceived their identity in chocolate-box heritagey ways.

I explored Orthodoxy merely out of curiosity. I did not really like it at all, but then when it challenged my beliefs I set out to study and prove Orthodoxy wrong.
Studying Church history backfired. It was obvious that Protestantism came from men and could not be what the Apostles taught, the very innovations the Scriptures warned me about. I ended up leaving a church I liked to attend an Orthodox parish, and I specifically had no interest in any asthetics or pomp at all. It was difficult making it through a service.
But even though I explored and attended because of truth, what actually converted me was the transformation of the heart that just wasn't happening in Protestantism or anywhere else, and especially the closeness with Christ that is tied to it.
Simplicity isnt a biblical principle. Depth is what I needed. Anyone who wants depth should look into Orthodoxy.
Being the bride of Christ is deep, not simple, and anyone who understands marriage would know this. The violent take the kingdom by force, not by simplicity. Enduring until the end to be saved is crucifixion, not simplicity.

I've noticed young men are into RCC/EO because it's trendy, not bc it's true. They like the colors, buzz, & pomp of the thing. It's cooler than to settle for the simplicity of Christ & worshipping Him in Spirit & truth. It's vainglory that leads them, not the Spirit of God.

Wow. I’ve just received a threatening letter from Ben Delo’s solicitors Addleshaw Goddard. They are claiming, among other things, that it is unlawful to publish information about Delo’s conviction for an anti-money laundering offence in the US. They also say I cannot publish their letter. An extract is below. Is Delo going to get his solicitors to threaten everyone who mentions his conviction? How is this not a SLAPP? @sra_solicitors @DanNeidle
