@AliceTalksFooty I agree that a confident Rashford is the only player that works - that's he's starting games over Garna, who's a better player. Problem is that even confident Rashford is not technical enough. Doesn't play well in a possession-based game. So become a liability when not scoring

Marcus Rashford got 40 non penalty G/A in 22/23 season. For context ballon d'Or favourite Vini JR got 32 last season playing for a brilliant Real Madrid side. If Rashford can find his confidence and get his form up again then I can see Man Utd having a good season this year. He had a bad season last year I know.. but people really do under estimate how good a "confident" Rashford is and why we should be backing him to get back to his best. #MUFC

@Doc_Joshi I think the difference with Mount is that Ugarte has a defined position (6). It was never clear where Mount would play - we needed an 8 but he's a poor-quality 10 or RW. Ugarte's position is clear - as is the need to replace Casemiro

@AliceTalksFooty Genuine question, Alice. Where does Mount fit into this side? He was the first buy of last summer yet it’s not clear to me where he plays. Is he RW or 10? We tried him at 8 for a few games early last season and it was a disaster I’m getting shades of Lingard here

I think #MUFC are spreading Zubimendi links to get PSG to lower Ugarte's price, but in an ideal world, replacing Casemiro + McTominay with Zubimendi and Ugarte would be good business. Ugarte: best off the ball / ball winner. Zubimendi: good controller/ technical security. Two profiles that complement the midfield well.

@lauriewhitwell MUFC have let Varane go and sold Willy K. Of course, we need more CBs. Plus Maguire and Lindelof are not technically good enough for ETH-ball. Last season’s catastrophe was due to the defence being injured, slow, technically-deficient

#MUFC still interested in De Ligt + Branthwaite, but adding another centre-back may depend on sales. Back-up left-sided defender also under consideration. Fenerbahce have Lindelof on list.

@Doc_Joshi I agree - it’s bizarre. United made two sensible offers and walked away when EFC refused to sell at the price offered . It’s good business by INEOS while EFC gambled and lost. Hopefully that’s the end of MUFC having their pants pulled down for mediocre British talent

@darren_tv @Lea_EFC This is spot on. Kicking the ball straight for a goal kick after our first half kick off was criminal. Set the entire tone for the team - we don’t want to control, just by-pass our best players and give it back to Spain. Simply inexplicable

@Lea_EFC England kick off first half, Pickford kicks long and gives away possession. Spain kick off 2nd half and keep the ball until they score. England throw in, Ball back to Pickford, he kicks long. He plays for England like he’s plays for EFC. No confidence in the defence so goes long!

The people hating on Jordan Pickford after that performance are just bitter morons. Without him, England would have been out of the Euros weeks ago. Proud to call Pickford my keeper.

@philmcnulty Can’t agree with you on Pickford. Inexplicably-addicted to aimless long- balls last night. What he we needed was control and he needlessly gave the ball back to Spain at every opportunity.

Spain the best team at Euro 2024 and much the better team tonight. England can have no complaints. Pickford, Shaw & Stones all top class but a miserable night for Harry Kane - so poor and still without a trophy to show for all his brilliance over so many years,

@RecoSpurs Pickford’s aimless long ball kicking was bordering on criminal. He started from our H1 kick-off (when he kicked it straight for a goal kick to Spain. Why?) and continued throughout the game. Control is fundamental. And you can’t have it if your GK always hoofs it long.

The moment it died… After our 73rd min equaliser, we had started to play it around for a period of sustained possession. Then for some reason, Walker throws the ball way back to Stones, who passes it back to Pickford, who long balls it out for a goal kick to Spain. #EURO2024

@Kevin_Maguire Spain very good. England stood back, laid out the red carpet and allowed Spain to be the better side. Pickford’s aimless long balls bordering on criminal - as was our clear determination to by-pass our best, creative players. Inexplicable tactics and Spain joyously took advantage

Truth is we’re watching a golden generation of England male footballers losing in finals or getting to semis and quarters despite losing to a better team tonight in Spain. Gareth Southgate still easily the most successful England manager since Alf Ramsey despite winning zilch.

@DeadlineDayLive @cfbayern What MUFC need more than anything is an entirely new defence so they can play a proper possession-based game from the back. Buying Toney would take us back to the odious Glazer / Woodward years

I'm devastated to share the news that my friend Rob Blanchette passed away earlier this week. Rob and I have worked together on the TPL podcast for a number of years, and it's been a pleasure to spend time with him, get to know him, and chat about United with him for as long as we have. His unwavering passion for creating the best conversation we could summarises his professionalism, and he was incredibly articulate. I learned a ton from him and he gave me confidence, but outside of the professional element of our relationship he just turned into a really good, caring mate who made time to listen and help out where he could. I'll always appreciate that. We got the chance to travel to Vegas watching United last year and had a blast. But he's been watching the club since the 80s, holding a season ticket at Old Trafford for many years. He absolutely loved United. Even a message he sent to me letting me know how much that cup final win over City meant to him last month made me emotional, such was the depth of his feeling. I'm sharing this message for all of our listeners, and anyone who may know Rob, follow him, or anyone who has come across his work in the past. And I know he's a big part of the United community. This message comes with the blessing of his wife and family, who I send all the love and strength in the world to. Until we meet again Rob ❤️

@utdforever7 @ManUtd @premierleague Rashford is an elite athlete with a very high ceiling. Sadly, United have allowed him to be inconsistent season after season. MUFC fans frustrated beyond belief by his failure to press properly and track back which induces problems elsewhere

@FabrizioRomano Critical now that United buy two new CBs - ball-playing, comfortable in possession - plus a No. 8 and a LB. Every player must be technical, strong, comfortable under pressure

@MikeKeegan_DM What rubbish. INEOS know the limitations of the manager but know there isn’t anyone better currently available. They took their time and made their decision without the slightest regard for what some Twitter fan boys think. Ridiculous

@FabrizioRomano This has constantly been United’s problem - key players returning from injury too early as ETH doesn’t have enough players to play his style. Until this is addressed there’s no guarantee MUFC’s injury will be better next season and could even be worse

🚨 Luke Shaw on his injuries: “It’s kind of everyone’s fault. Partly my fault, partly medical staff, I think everyone would admit that”. “I felt something against Aston Villa and came off at half-time”. “The scan came back and there wasn’t too much there. But I didn’t train all week, then trained the day before the game”. “If the manager asks me to play, I’m never going to say no…”. “I shouldn’t have played”.

@Doc_Joshi This has been evident for months - 2 major directors are not yet at the club. We need to decide the club's style of play, the players to recruit, and the future of the manager through a combination of Zoom, Slack, semaphore and smoke signals

@AliceTalksFooty Rashford not going to the Euros is hugely positive for MUFC. He's been very poor this season - fans rightly frustrated at his lack of pressing / tracking back. He needs a change of mindset and realisation that he's far from Eng and MUFC number one in his preferred LW position.

In tournaments you need players that can come off the bench and win you a game. Rashford is that guy. You also need to beat the big teams. Rashford has 40 G/A vs big six sides. Salah and KDB only current PL player with more.

Mins per G/A for England (wingers): Rashford: 116 (23) Saka: 117 (18) Grealish 157 (10) Foden 181 (11) Bowen 0 G/A in 454 mins Gordon 0 G/A in 85 mins Palmer 1 pen in 96 mins World Cup stats: Rashford 3 goals in 145 mins Saka 3 goals in 293 mins Foden: 1 goal in 259 mins Grealish: 1 goal in 80 mins Bowen, Palmer, Gordon (no experience). On form Rashford doesn’t deserve to be picked, but being completely overlooked and not chosen in 33 man squad is crazy. Him and Saka were England’s 2 best wingers at World Cup, despite limited mins for Rashford. Only player bar maybe Gordon that can inject pace of bench. Rashford also has 17 goals for England. Harry Kane is the only player in current squad with more.

@FPLfrasier We looked at him a few years ago but the deal smacked of that peak-Woodward nonsense: high-profile, mercenary player seeking the 5-year £350k deal to see out his career.

United should have signed him last summer or the last January window. He still has a 12m release clause. A club like #MUFC should be all over this deal. - United have many young attackers. Needs some experience for the next 1/2 years - Dybala provides a different dynamics to the attack. Can play alongside Højlund or play false 9 in a few games - I know the risk with Dybala being injury prone. Luckily, United don’t need an attacker to start 50 games. We need a rotation option. - For 12m, you don’t get better deals than this. I know that wage will be a bit on the higher side. #MUFC

@AliceTalksFooty This is exactly the kind of rebuild we need. Exit expensive, older players and bring in younger, fitter, stronger, faster, more technical players (so we don't collapse if Licha is injured). Agree with other comments - Market price for Sancho, Greenwood must be achieved
