Iowa AD Beth Goetz tells me the following after the Hawkeyes' run to the Elite Eight under Ben McCollum: "I couldn’t be more thrilled with what our program has accomplished and the leadership of Coach McCollum. We are excited about Ben’s future here at Iowa and will work in partnership with him toward continued success."

So, barring any unexpected portal departures, Iowa has for next year: Cooper Koch Tate Sage Alvaro Folgueiras Isaiah Howard Cam Manyawu Trevon Jirak showed some promise. Trey Thompson is there. Ethan Harris incoming. Get a PG and a big in the portal. Can’t wait!

@Trackhistorian @Isaac__Trotter Alvaro does not have a great attitude man. At least not the attitude Ben McCollum likes to have in his program. There’s not gonna be a lot of room for Alvaro with Sage, Thompson, Koch, Banks (maybe), and Coon (maybe). His NIL is getting cut and he’ll hit the portal.

Ben McCollum needs a little more talent in Iowa City, but retention feels like everything for this group. If guys like Cooper Koch, Alvaro Folgueiras and Tate Sage stay, Iowa is going to be a real factor. The proof is in the pudding. If you stay, McCollum gets you better.

@Isaac__Trotter Alvaro can walk. Everyone lets recency bias get in the way of how his season really went. We pay him way too much NIL money, and I’d claim that Alvaro will be only the 4th best forward on the team next year.

Iowa is staring down a $1.2 billion budget shortfall, w/ spending projected to far exceed state revenue next yr. The state may need to cut spending or dip into reserve funds like the Taxpayer Relief Fund to fill the gap. This deficit is the result of years of Republican tax cuts

@Hassel_Chris Please speak it into existence. This team has no hunger. They play every game so uninspired. They make basketball look hard and take the fun out of it. Need major changes in the offseason to be able to compete in the B1G.

High D2 is better than low D1. High D3 is better than low D2.
