@oelma__ An 50% of the rent, protection, moral support, someone else to raise the baby with, a non emotional, logical way of looking at things and emotional support for the dog.

Before they all left twitter, I was accused of ableism whenever I said you need to be reading (and reading the classics). As humans, we’re very good at making excuses to avoid things we know would benefit us. If you want to flourish, intellectually & emotionally, you must read.

Saying people should read is a controversial topic over on Bluesky.

@JohnKyleAuthor @FixingEducation So let them homeschool. End the free babysitting. Thats what they really send them to public school for.
English

@TrooperXcom @FixingEducation Indeed, and no statute can govern parenting for the most part.

@helena_author @MddleFngerWordz I memorize my lines on my phone

@JohnKyleAuthor @FixingEducation First we have to fix the parenting problem.

@FixingEducation If we paid more, we would get better teachers. By pay more, I mean to teachers that demonstrate good results via testing scores: not paying more due to public sector unions' demands. I'm all for unions, but private sector became too weak and public sector became too strong.

@BeingJWood Not as dumb as the dems for putting such crappy nominations forward. I mean all they needed to do was pick 1 middle of the road person.
They picked so bad that Trump was the winner.
Learn. We dont want extremists learn

@educator4ever36 No one wants to parent their kids and teach them how to behave in public. Thats wrong. And the reason.
English

No one wants to teach students anymore in public schools. This is so wrong.
David Zweig@davidzweig
Pittsburgh Public Schools will be closed for three days, and compel "asynchronous" remote learning, because of the NFL Draft. Since the city will have a lot of visitors this will "ensure students can continue learning safely and effectively." Unreal. publicsource.org/pittsburgh-pub…

@Kekius_Sage I work so hard that nothing has meaning. Its just sleep and work. Repeat.

@jakonrath No one cares, your not putting that jack back in the box, I tried.

Apparently a publisher (Hachette) has cancelled the release of a body-horror book (Shy Girl by Mia Ballard) because AI may have been used in its creation.
This should be a wake-up call to any/all authors using AI to generate or assist in writing fiction.
There is a very real stigma attached to AI fiction.
It doesn't matter if the content is worthy of publication, as Shy Girl apparently was.
What matters is that the industry--writers, readers, and publishers--are reacting negatively to it.
Amazon KDP has been asking for years if AI was used in the creation of uploaded manuscripts. Publishing on Amazon requires checking the box YES or NO.
If you used AI to create a story and lied about it, do you really think you won't be discovered?
And what do you think will happen when you are ultimately discovered?
I use AI for research. For proofreading typos. For generating X post images (like the one on this post).
I don't use it to write. Not my fiction. Not my posts. Not my blog.
We are all going to be tested for AI. By companies. By readers. By the world. It is inevitable.
How is your writing going to fare?

@JillCo Peaceful silence. Not everything is about parents and crotch goblins. Thats just your world, and your choices.

Today I went to a chic coffee shop with my 3 children (I'm a latte addict personally). I walked in - and not even one person had a child and everyone was staring at us. I could sense the annoyance around us when my baby starting whimpering to come out of his stroller and my 4 year old was laughing just a little too loud.
It wasn't imagined either - I could feel the negative energy around me.
I'm noticing a lot of spaces are becoming very anti-child. It's not just restaurants at dinner any longer. It's everywhere - grocery stores, libraries, swimming pools, etc. because so many people don't have kids and don't want them (*ancestor cry*).
It's like the presence of a baby or child is very off-putting for the childless - simply out of their own contempt.
A society that hates children is a society with no future at all. It's a dead zone with soulless people only existing.

@books4kimberly Some authors are doing that to come up with reviews, then review bombing. You can tell because they dont mention story content, just grammar, and typos.

@PoliceThePolic1 Call a county officer and report them. Harassment and retaliation through use of local officer resources.
Yes that is a thing.
