@markmartin Sounds like they should’ve stuck with the 15s and left the sidewalls alone 🤷‍♂️ Everything about this car is nascar and co. doubling down on flawed concepts over and over again.

According to John Probst Goodyear wanted the tire to be that wide because they wanted to same volume of air in them as they had in the 15” wheel setup. You and I don’t understand why that makes sense but if they answered the question I bet it would make sense.

@markmartin I watched your take on lower downforce. First off - agree with your take, I've been saying this for 10 years. However this car has more problems than just the downforce. A huge detriment is the fat tires. These provide way too much grip. Back in the day if you (1/2)

@Flannel83 @markmartin I’ve always assumed that this was part of it. They designed these cars to be slot cars with high center-of-corner speeds, so maybe they really needed the extra tire. Idk. Still shamefully awful design either way.

@markmartin This tire is lower profile, so to get the same volume in it, it has to be wider. The 15” tire was a higher profile and more narrow…I figure it has something to do with load distribution, especially the load in the corners, but I’m just guessing.

@AwfulRacing Idk what they were cooking with the 66 car that day, but as someone who grew up massively rooting for the underdogs this was heartbreaking. He qualified up towards the front at Bristol one or two more times in that car too.

As you can see, this system will hugely benefit active drivers, and drivers who had their careers cut short, because most drivers will take a huge iRating plunge at the back end of their careers.
Dale.@dabfordale

Using Claude to assist with coding, I was able to apply iRating to every participant in every Cup race with results available in Racing Reference. Here are the all time ratings as well as the iRating results from Darlington on Sunday. Let me know what else you want to see.

@allie__voss These people have about the same level of political literacy as the average hyper-political twitter account, the only difference is that they don’t have obnoxiously strong, out-of-touch opinions that they feel the need to force everyone else to listen to.

The fact of the matter is Larkin wanted to run his mouth last year about yzerman not adding. He has added this year and the team still choked time for a change in the on ice leadership

@ZeterBeard @SuSu276485 @McCartyDangles JBD is the safer, lower upside, boring option. They don’t need high upside and scoring from their third pair, they need stability for 12 minutes per night. JBD doesn’t exactly do a great job of that, but he comes closer to doing it than ASP *at this point in his career.*

You will never ever convince me ASP wasn't a better option JBD cannot break out the puck and he seems to make the same exact mistakes with half the offense And this team NEEEEEDS a good breakout right now

@ZeterBeard @SuSu276485 @McCartyDangles They were strategically holding him off the ice. He wasn’t straight up getting benched literally every single night (although they definitely did bench him sometimes). I can’t go back and watch every game to prove that, but that’s been my impression all along.

@Trup__ @SuSu276485 @McCartyDangles Cause he was benched… that’s not being sheltered. Sheltered is being deployed in certain scenarios. Being benched means you don’t play the rest of the game. Big difference. Chiarot rotated as normal when ASP was benched. Switching between Aljo and JBD mostly with Aljo

@ZeterBeard @SuSu276485 @McCartyDangles Yes, he was paired with Chiarot most of the season. I’m going to let you figure out on your own why Chiarot is averaging about 21 minutes per game and why ASP averaged 16 (and was getting much less than that down the stretch).

@Trup__ @SuSu276485 @McCartyDangles He was deployed with Chiarot for 45 minutes every night. He was then benched…. Are you saying Chiarot was sheltered as well for 60 games…? 🤣🤣

@ZeterBeard @SuSu276485 @McCartyDangles They weren’t playing him 14 minutes per night because they wanted to pair him against the other team’s top players lol. He was absolutely getting sheltered minutes.

@SuSu276485 @McCartyDangles TOI doesn’t matter it’s about the competition. 2nd pairs play against harder comp then 3rd pairs. Put JBD on 2nd pair for 60 games and see what happens. He’d get rolled

@rdryan33 He is talented but he was getting destroyed in sheltered minutes. No reason to have him up to get bullied for 10 minutes per night. He’ll continue growing as a player and be back stronger down the line.

@Motorsport Yeah I mean generally they’re right. There is a vocal part of the fanbase that would turn against it after a few weeks (similar to what they did with no stage yellows at road courses), but those of us who actually like racing and racecars are behind this 100%.

@MeltdownRocks I give it another year. If the team was as stale as it has been I’d get it, but they’ve actually taken big steps this year, both in terms of play and results. If they can back it up we may be in business. Although, the prospect hoarding may sink the ship eventually.

The Red Wings have been playing at Little Caesars Arena since it opened in 2017, and have yet to play in a playoff game there. If they don’t make the playoffs this year, I’m all for changes at every level of this organization. I don’t care how stacked the east is. #lgrw
