@mushycrouton It was more commonly used like 15-20 years ago by newly discovered trans people. There were a lot less resources back then and what we did have was hard to find. It was really difficult trying to find the right words to describe being trans to family that had never heard of it

I’ve never once heard a trans person say “born in the wrong body”. This feels like something transn’t people made up to explain trans people to other transn’t people, just to make themselves mad about it.

@assignedmedia It’s literally a catch 22 for a lot of us. Lack of GAC leading to poor mental health. Providers requiring good mental health before prescribing HRT. The system even in the best of scenarios for us is such shit.

Of course, the vast majority of trans kids aren't getting treatment for suicide attempts OR gender dysphoria, but of those getting care, our system prefers to treat the suicide attempts than offer treatments shown to decrease them.
The purpose of a system is what it does.

@oncloud_e Would have loved to start sooner so I wouldn’t have to shelve out $5k (and counting) on laser /electrolysis. Still have another year minimum to go to. It’s incredibly painful in addition to expensive, and many can’t afford it.

we really don't have to be comparing transition start dates like that, i promise you i have seen prettier and sweeter girls who started at 30 than those who started at 18. really the biggest reason to transition early is just to live as much of your life as yourself as possible

Women have a right to not want male physicians but sometimes we have no choice! If a woman medical professional isn’t available, I’d rather have my health issue addressed than not see a man - even if not my preference.
