While absentee ballots must now be received by 7:30 p.m. on Election Day, this change in Ohio law does not impact the deadline for military and overseas voters. Mailed UOCAVA ballots may still be received up to 4 days after Election Day. For anyone confused by this irresponsible headline, the records referenced do not include HOW you voted in any election. Our office does not even have that information. They do include the publicly available voter file (Ohio has made this public since 2006, and can be found on our website) and a few additional pieces of information, such as the last 4 of a Social Security number, needed to accurately identify any potentially ineligible voters in accordance with state and federal law.

That is a serious accusation, without any credible proof that we are aware of. Bipartisan election officials are responsible for reviewing, confirming voter ID, and signature matching every absentee ballot and ballot request form. If you have credible information this is not being done, let us know immediately so we can ensure Ohio's high standards are upheld. If you don't, stop spreading fake information about Ohio's dedicated election officials.
Franklin County Libertarian Party of Ohio@FCLPO

If the county boards of election enforced signature verification for absentee ballots as aggressively as they do for candidate petitions over half of mail-in ballots would be thrown out. They don't even check signatures on the majority mail-in ballots.

Driver licenses may be issued to permanent, legal residents or “green card" holders by the BMV. However, this is not an acceptable form of ID for voting unless additional proof of citizenship is provided, and poll workers are trained to identify this type of license. Similarly, noncitizens legally here on a temporary basis, such as those who hold a student visa, work visa, or have asylum, may be issued a limited term non-renewable/non-transferable driver license. This is never acceptable for voting, and poll workers are trained to identify this type of license. Identification requirements to vote in Ohio can be found here: ohiosos.gov/elections/vote… Illegal aliens are not permitted to obtain a driver license or state ID.

At this time, this is not an accurate statement from the Putsch/Georgeton campaign. While county boards of elections have completed their portion of the signature verification process, as required by law, our office has until February 24 to certify candidates to appear on the May 5 Primary Election ballot. Protests may be filed against the certification of statewide candidates until February 20.

While the prior Ohio Elections Commission primarily had jurisdiction over campaign finance law violations, the new Ohio Election Integrity Commission has authority over violations of Ohio's other election laws, including those listed here.

Hi Scott! Ohio has open primaries, meaning that there is a Republican ballot, a Democrat Ballot, and a questions and issues ballot. To become an affiliated voter, a voter simply requests their party's ballot; to remain unaffiliated, a voter chooses the issues-only ballot. @FrankLaRose Can you tell me why the Citizens of Ohio have to pick a side when they Vote? Why can't we Vote Left, Right, Left, or Right, Left, Right? The Voteing People said you could explain it to me.

It’s National Sticker Day, and yes, we take ours seriously! These stickers mark some truly meaningful moments, from kids dreaming about voting one day to Ohioans proudly casting their ballots, celebrating the season, or raising a glass to democracy. They may be small stickers, but they represent big civic pride!

The Ohio Election Integrity Commission held its inaugural meeting last week. The bipartisan commission was created by the Ohio General Assembly in HB 96 and is comprised of five members appointed by the Secretary of State, the President and the Minority Leader of the Ohio Senate, and the Speaker and the Minority Leader of the Ohio House of Representatives. The commission helps ensure Ohio's election and campaign finance laws are fairly and uniformly enforced. Learn more about the commission at OhioElectionIntegrity.gov.

@FrankLaRose They WHY is the SoS Cuyahoga ballots by mail (51,413 per SoS certified election results) not matching the county’s own records of 48,939 (UOCAVA + absentee by mail) for the 11/2025 election? Thats a LOT Of disparity (2,474 votes worth) @VerifyOhio

With Senate Bill 293 set to become law, here are a few things to remember if you choose to vote by mail next year: 1) Ballots must be received by Ohio's boards of elections by Election Day. 2) If you choose to mail your ballot, don’t procrastinate. Request early and return promptly! 3) Not sure if your ballot will make it on time in the mail? Drop your ballot off yourself at your county board of elections before polls close!
