Robin Yount was the last player to homer as an 18-year-old in the big leagues. It's unlikely we ever see that happen again.
Not Gaetti@notgaetti

Not enough people talk about Robin Yount • .285/.342/.430 (.772 OPS), 115 OPS+ • 3142 H, 251 HR, 1406 RBI, 271 SB • 960 XBH, 4730 TB, 20 seasons • 77.4 WAR, 3x ASG, 2x AL MVP • One-franchise man w/ MIL • 2x 2B leader, 2x 3B leader • 132/100 on HOF monitor • Made MLB debut at 18 • Never struck out 95x • Most hits of the 1980s • First-ballot HOF'er 1999 • Wore #19 his entire career • Topped 40 2B 4x, 300 TB 4x • Reached 20 HR 4x, 100 RBI 3x • Stole 15 bases 9x, scored 100 5x • Top Similarity Score: Paul Molitor • Won MVP at two positions (SS, CF) • Won Silver Sluggers at two positions • .344/.419/.469 postseason slash line • Lifetime 1.072 OPS in the World Series • Last active teammate of Henry L. Aaron • There have only been 23 seasons with at least 10.5 WAR and 360 TB; only 8 of those (including Yount ’82) also had fewer than 65 strikeouts

@WashSyndicate I loved seeing him in Yankee pinstripes in that movie. Wasn’t he wearing like #68 or something ridiculous? Frank Thomas before he was Frank Thomas.

Drop whatever you’re doing, folks “The Big Hurt” Frank Thomas, one of the greatest right-handed hitters of all time, is suing the Chicago White Sox and more than a dozen apparel manufacturers and retailers over the use of his name and number without permission or compensation.

Drop whatever you're doing, folks SOUND. ON. My oh my, lawda mercy, this is perhaps THE greatest audible crack of the bat I've ever heard captured on video. Frank Thomas goes 525 to the upper deck during the 1994 Home Run Derby at Three Rivers Stadium.

@notgaetti when I was a kid I had a video called "Grand Slam" that I watched 3 million times. interviews with all-time greats and players of late 80s. Aaron recalled how he ate a lot of peanut butter before he made it in the majors. Some great personal and baseball stories were shared.

Not enough people talk about Mark DeRosa • .268/.340/.412 (.751 OPS), 95 OPS+ • 16-year super-utility man career • 10.6 WAR, 100 HR, 494 RBI • Played for 8 MLB teams • Hails from New Jersey • 1.209 OPS vs. Roy Oswalt • Now an MLB Network TV guy • Tremendous postseason hitter: • .358/.414/.566 across 22 games • (Yes, that's a .980 postseason OPS) • Played every position except 1, 2 and 8 • Managed Team USA in the 🌎⚾️Classic • He prematurely rested his stars because: • "Our ticket's punched to the quarterfinals" • (Team USA's ticket was in fact not punched) • MLB Network then deleted video of this quote • 1 of 9 players in MLB history to retire with exactly 100 home runs, a list that includes a surprisingly high incidence of NEPTA guys

@RektIdeas @BaltimoreBanner we are both showing our age! hash tag local memories Dantley was before my time but my father was near courtside for a game in Denver in the early 80s when the Jazz were in town. He said Dantley was like a thoroughbred horse in that he could outrun everyone up & down the court
