Clayton Kershaw has the second best ERA+ of any left-handed starting pitcher in baseball history. I am not going to lie.....seeing Max Fried tied for 4th all-time is a surprise.

Dwayne Murphy recorded 507 putouts in the outfield for the Oakland Athletics in 1980. He is one of five outfielders in MLB history to record 500+ putouts in a season and the last to do it.

Not that anybody asked for it, but here are the five players to steal 40+ bags in a season without hitting a triple. Any list that starts with Miguel Diloné & Mariano Duncan is a good time.

Only two shortstops in baseball history have recorded a lifetime OBP over .400. Despite having overlapping careers, Willie Wells and Arky Vaughan never had the opportunity to face off in an official MLB game. What a shame, as they were two of the best to ever do it.

Franchise leaderboard watch: Ronald Acuña Jr.’s climb up the Braves home run leaderboard. Acuña currently sits 12th all time in Braves history with 186 home runs. 7.) Joe Adcock — 239 8.) Bob Horner — 215 9.) Javy López — 214 10.) Wally Berger — 199 11.) Brian McCann — 188 12.) Ronald Acuña Jr. — 186 Acuña could realistically crack the top 10 this season with even a below average year by his standards. If he matches his career high of 41 home runs, which he’s done twice (2019, 2023), he would reach 227 and move up to 8th all time in Braves history. Data via @Stathead

You might have noticed a recent redesign to player pages on @baseball_ref. As more content becomes available—splits, game logs, and other filters/finders/features—it can be tough to keep it navigable and organized, but this is well done and I’m enjoying using it daily for NEPTA🔥

In the strike-shortened season of 1994, Paul O’Neil had one of his best years. He finished 5th in the MVP vote. He won the AL batting title (.359). And he put up a ridiculous .460 OBP. How did he not lead the league in OBP that year, I wondered. Enter Frank Thomas.

Belonging to the 3000 Hit Club or 500 Home Club is special. But belonging to both puts you in rare company. Eddie Murray became just the third player in MLB history to join both when he blasted his 500th home run in 1996.
