@CHSommers no one is arguing we don't crush militarily but we haven't won anything and if we continue up the escalation ladder we can't actually win

@AminCad @adamscochran @DonAlt have you heard of selection bias? families who choose to homeschool are more affluent, more educated, and more motivated. These are factors that independently predict higher academic outcomes. your comment reveals the hubris and folly of 'libertarians' imo

Your comment reveals the hubris and folly of socialists. Here you are calling for expanding authoritarian control over how parents raise their children, by literally banning homeschooling, while homeschooled students score 15-25 percentile points higher on tests and seem to excel socially and in college.

I always get these weird home school people in my comments Listen, if you're truly infinitely smarter than everyone around you, pay for the best educators in the world to tutor your children If you can't afford that, you're probably not smarter than everyone around you

Trump's voting bill "is not about stopping widespread voter fraud, which is a myth pushed by Republicans.... Rather, it’s about giving" Trump's politicized "Department of Homeland Security power to choose who can vote" to steal the election. trib.al/gudBmby

$1.5 BILLION. Let me say it again - a $1.5 BILLION BET. Bigger than any futures purchases made at the time. 5 minutes before Trump's post. Who was it? Trump? A family member? A White House staffer? This is corruption. Mind blowing corruption.

BREAKING: Just five minutes before Trump's announcement to halt the attacks on Iran, massive trades reportedly hit the market. In one move, $1.5 billion in S&P 500 (ES) futures was bought while $192 million in oil (CL) futures was sold. These orders were 4–6x larger than anything else at the time. The trader seemingly made huge gains. Unusual.

Honestly @adamscochran’s war coverage recently has been quite good. I know this comment will cause many ppl to cringe, but it’s actually true 🤷 The receipts are public, just look at his recent commentary around the conflict and you’ll see that they’ve been pretty on point.

This is pretty dishonest; at least the “light coordination from EF” part. EF and Vitalik are MASSIVELY influencing everything, have their hand in everything and set the entire tone for ETH community who worships Vitalik and anything he says and gets upset at any pushback. This is stuff ETH people say that doesn’t really add up and they have to say it because they know the picture it truly paints to admit how powerful and influential Vitalik is alongside EF. And it’s getting worse not better.

A lot of people on CT hate Ethereum bc it breaks their worldview. Bitcoin is static. Alt L1s are VC-funded, ship-fast tech cultures. Ethereum sits in the middle: decentralized, messy, evolving, with only light coordination from the EF. It gets attacked from all sides. But that’s exactly why it will continue to win. It’s built for the long term, and aligned with a positive, open vision of the world.

@baldhippyrecord @briebriejoy Bernie Sanders almost became the nominee of one of the major parties two different times. It ain't perfect but we still have something worth fighting for. But it's probably all over now. I'm not convinced we will ever have free and fair elections ever again.

"Dems would've been better" is the liberal version of "does Israel have a right to exist". Both are questions are intended to obscure the moral/political responsibility of those in power. Did Democrats have an obligation to put forward an anti-genocide candidate when it became clear failing to do so would cost them votes? Did Democrats have an obligation to hold a primary given polls showing Biden's unpopularity two years prior to the election? Yes. The but-for cause of Dems losing is not a Lebanese-American raising valid concerns about the nature of the imperial duopoly. Dems are the ones who chose Trump over Palestine. But I guess it's easier to blame Peter Daou.

@unusual_whales Market moves are typically driven by macro repricing around headlines rather than provable coordinated “insider” trades, and causality in timing alone doesn’t establish manipulation.
