@thegubblerlogos @JeremiahDJohns Frankly I don't really pay attention to new music these days, so I have no idea really, but some of the fav albums of my youth are debut albums from the 90s, 00s & 10s. That being said, I think a lot of artists don't peak until their 2nd or 3rd album so maybe the 20s is a lull

I’ve got lists going back to the 50s and I’m struggling to come up with one in the last 15-20

Women ?
Broadcasts the noise made by people
Electrelane - the power out
If you count sun kil moon ghost of the great highway
But had to reach far back for all of those

@JeremiahDJohns What was the most recent future-classic debut album? As an elder millennial, my formative years and the formidable years of my parents generation saw the release of countless future-classic debut albums.

Movies are in the worst state the industry has ever been in. Only a handful of decent films in the last 20 years - and the last ten has been mostly garbage
Other decades had masterpiece after masterpiece
Kids can’t even read anymore
They certainly don’t do it for fun but the publishing world has radically changed
There’s more music than ever before and it’s all found in the same place as every album ever released just one button or one random shuffle track away
But with music as well - albums that will last and become classics seem fewer and fewer every year
Music has also become far more individualistic rather than communal - we aren’t all watching 120 minutes and know the same albums - it’s all hyper niche as out attention space dwindle and we are just jumping from new to old to new
There’s no grounding in time no eras that last more than a few weeks

@JeremiahDJohns I’d argue video games peaked somewhere in the 2000s-2010s.

Not to pick on anyone in particular, but there's a lot of people saying "Yeah this is because new music sucks". And respectfully, you should all think harder.
Do you also think all new books suck? That authors forgot how to write? Movies too? Video games??? Because they're all seeing the same trend.
Video games are an interesting space where, in a very objective sense, the games are MUCH better than they used to be. And yet people still increasingly just play older games. That should be your clue this isn't just "all art in every medium decided to suck at the same time". It's a story about technology and distribution.

@Sarah4Texas Anyone else notice the Braum’s on the other side of the street? Does Braum’s have the best fast food burgers? I think you could make a good argument that it does.

No wonder one of her sons is now a conservative who fact checks his father on political issues at the dinner table. I'd rebel, too, if I had to grow up in this kind of ideologically oppressive environment.

@iluminatibot The premise of this lecture is bullshit; Christmas Day was established as a federal holiday by Congress in 1870. Coca-Cola was invented in 1886. To say that Christmas "wasn't a big deal" until Coke's marketing department tricked people into thinking Xmas was important is absurd.

@Teslaraq @JoshuaEbner Fair enough, from what I understand UT Dallas has top tier engineering programs but is more interdisciplinary and less focused on STEM like an actual tech school might be while A&M is a larger, more traditional "tech school" in terms of focus and research scale, that's all.

@OoferD2 @DragonBall43ver I'm talking about actual cel animation, the process that dominated the animation industry for the entire 20th century:

@dom_lucre I think he's just doing the new "spaz-maxxing" thing that trending on TikTok. We used to call it a "California high" back in my day.
