@Zebbart

We were the way we were; nothing could make us any different, and we suffered because of it.

Blessed are all who fear the LORD, and walk in his ways! By the labor of your hands you shall eat. You will be blessed and prosper. Your wife like a fruitful vine in the heart of your house; your children like shoots of the olive around your table. Ps 128.

@RealJohnDios We had these in the 90s. My step-brother was one! They were a small clique of outcasts that you'd see around town. It's a lot more pervasive now though.

Listening to a new record that sounds uncannily like fIREHOSE and I think we may have entered the final phase of life on this planet.

Beavis & Butthead and Daria have plenty of fans but there’s still a wide open market for forgotten 90s era MTV shows. Celebrity Deathmatch, The Tom Green Show, Undressed, 2ge+her…

@RealJohnDios If my brother attacks some random guy on the street, I'm going to try to pull my brother off him and get him away, not cheer him on.

If my brother gets in a fight I'm taking his side, not standing there contemplating whether he deserves to get beat up.

Isolationalism is fine in theory but there's something viscerally disgusting about ragging on your own country mid-conflict. Draft dodging hippy shit no matter how based the rationalization, spiritually worm-like.

I guess the final revenge for this was the rather beautiful lick after "Shine until tomorrow / let it be" - barely audible on the single, VERY LOUD on the album when Paul was safely elsewhere
celine dionysus / FISHER THING new songs out 🌌@celinedionysus_

x.com/celinedionysus… this is about 'hey jude' specifically, apparently george was playing answer phrases in the verses and paul decided to cut those. which tbh is probably the right choice, but in the pattern of larger snubs feels awful to george

@grahamcclark1 The US isn't the center of the world, but no international artist has really made it and overcome oppression until the win the Oscar or Grammy. 🤔

@JeremyTate41 Nice c.1895 kerning. Nice fonts that wouldn’t be invented until the mid-20th century. Tell me: are you the duped here, or the would-be duper?

Eighth grade graduation exam from Kansas, 1895. They went to school about 120 days a year for about five hours per day.

It's never been more present, it's implicit in "America is the only country where anyone can be American, in no other country is my story even possible," its liberal and leftist exponents just can't admit it's the frontier thesis any more, for the obvious reason
Sami Gold@souljagoyteller

Interesting how the Frontier thesis as an analogy or case study of American history has completely collapsed within public discourse. Mentions of the frontier as synecdoche for desired outcomes is apparent throughout the 1st half of the 20th century. When do you hear about it now

A high schooler just won a game 888 to 168 at a tournament over the weekend. BROMATES for 158 and JEWELER for 133 definitely help!

@Siciliboi It's the only way I can imagine the general population becoming able to do serious work without going through an apocalypse. As it is, I think there is an apocalypse coming.

@Siciliboi If I were dictator with unlimited power and budget I'd set up something like the military but for regular manual labor, particularly agricultural labor. If you join you are guaranteed a good living and benefits, but you have no labor rights. Follow orders or go to jail.

@PaulKroenke @Blackkout__ You're exactly right about OBAA. Weapons was a fun popcorn horror movie but I didn't see anything special in it. Bugonia is my pick.

@Blackkout__ It's just PTA doing his own take on a Tarantino flick. It's fine but it's stupid. Weapons is the best movie of 2025.
