We were the way we were; nothing could make us any different, and we suffered because of it.

Blessed are all who fear the LORD, and walk in his ways! By the labor of your hands you shall eat. You will be blessed and prosper. Your wife like a fruitful vine in the heart of your house; your children like shoots of the olive around your table. Ps 128.

@tertius_taz I suspect this new "outscore them 4 to 1" strategy might be huge. Imagine if they use it for a whole game?

@Tetradugenikid My point is that if you had to meet the regulatory standards Miller does, home being would not be cheaper than store bought. Or if home brewers could sell to you legally without regulation, they (and Miller) would be much cheaper.

@Zebbart i've seen how big the fucking tanks are at miller brewery. They are not sweating the licensing, and there are a million brands selling seltzer, it costs basically nothing to make but no one will sell it to you for under 1.40 a can

@RealJohnDios Compromise: they don't have to fill their thermos with Great Value beef vegetable soup. They should be able to splurge on the Hungry Man. And one tropical fruit, such as an orange or banana, to remind them they are modern royalty.

@Tetradugenikid Just the fact that it's illegal to sell it without a bunch of licensing and regulatory hoops. If every hobby brewer were free to sell without any interference it would be cheap.

Not to be a lolbert but it's really the regulations. In places and times with no regulations on food business, it is cheaper to eat out than to cook at home (for a single man anyway).
oecolamp@oecolamp

It's honestly a massive market failure if a person producing their own food at home can achieve a lower marginal cost than a competative market of firms solely dedicated to producing hot meals. Can't understand why you would support free markets if they can't even deliver lunch.

@oecolamp It's mainly the regulations. In unregulated third world markets it is cheaper to eat street food than cook at home. The other thing is you're eating fancier stuff even from Taco Bell than you'd eat at home. A PB&J is not worth selling for the price it would get.

@realAppleJohn @Maarblek Equities lol. I (and I know @Maarblek too) was born raised and remain lower working class rural. Maybe it's a country thing, just can't get into this whiny "serve me!" attitude. Getting fucked out of financial security by 2008 and COVID makes me want to fight, not cry.

@realAppleJohn @Maarblek The economics are way different. Frugality and meal prep are key life skills and being realistic is necessary for political wisdom.

@Zebbart @Maarblek Unless you’re going to upscale places every day, when you’re single, the economies of scale ain’t that much of a difference. I REPEAT: THIS. IS. NOT. WHY. TWO. GENERATIONS. ARE. BROKE. Get it through your fucking skulls already & cut the retarded grumpy boomer shit

@Maarblek OK, but let’s cut the shit. Millennials and Gen Z are not broke because they occasionally go out to lunch and dinner We have to just stop with this retarded narrative

@TheBigCrunch2 @MuseZack I've known it for a long time. The issue is that most people didn't, because surface level pop culture was intentionally spreading a false narrative for political purposes.

@Zebbart @MuseZack It really wasn’t hidden knowledge, though. They’ve been pretty open about Parks being planned for a long time now. Maybe yall should just be more open to learning new things instead of treating everything you don’t know like a psyop

The PBS documentary series "Eyes on the Prize" has been a primary tool to teach American school kids about the Civil Rights Movement for nearly 40 years. Here's the relevant part about Rosa Parks. None of this stuff has been secret information:

@TheBigCrunch2 @MuseZack Yeah normal people just live their day to day and accept the intentionally propagated simple narrative about stuff. That is exactly Walsh's point, and what he is trying to change.

@Zebbart @MuseZack Because they don’t bother learning shit after they’re first taught about it to get more context? Same reason these people get so upset when you tell them Columbus was a bad person

@BBGreatMoments Saw two there when I was 12 and it was a nightmare. Seats felt a mile from the action, Pirates no good in the 90, driving in Pittsburgh was even crazier back then and we got lost. Only highlight was booing Bonds as a Giant. PNC Park is a million times better.

Say yes to the mom selling her kid's fundraiser candy. Then turn to him and ask if he has any cash on him.

Ask him if he wants a brownie. Don't mention the substitutions for flour, sugar and cocoa used to make them "trim."
