@EpicGreenman42 @haibaneinsect IMAX is set up to play different movies, they’re mostly digital projections, it’s that studios have exclusive window contracts. That’s the only reason Marvel is getting shut out of day and date IMAX releases this year

@haibaneinsect They waited until the last 4:3 TV was sold before rolling this out. This is intentional so you have to chop the top and bottom to put it in "regular" theaters. The new Spider-Man movie's getting fucked because IMAX isn't set up to show multiple movies at the same time.

IMAX having this aspect ratio exclusive to only be in their special little cinemas is anti-art. Make the fact the screen in the IMAX cinema is huge as the selling point, not that you can only see the full authentic vision of the director in that specific cinema.

@KattN0tWilliams Possibly; I guess it depends on how prudish the karaoke host is. I once got yelled at for adding my own cussing to a song, disregarding the clean lyrics on the screen. It was at a 21+ bar; I feel I should be allowed to remix vocals and cuss.

Hmmm I got it. NBA switches to points instead of wins. If you beat a team .500 or over, you get three points. If you beat a team under .500 you get two points. If you go to overtime, loser gets one point. Otherwise, loser gets 0 points. Lottery odds are determined by the most points of the bottom 14 teams.

“Dunesday” is absolutely not even close to being the same as Barbenheimer. That was counterprogramming. Barbie and Oppenheimer were targeting totally different audiences. Avengers: Doomsday and Dune: Part Three are fighting for the same audience, and no matter what, both movies’ box office will be smaller. Doomsday will obviously beat Dune, but it won’t make as much as it could without Dune releasing on the same day. It also doesn’t have IMAX screens.

@_ElectricalFire Three Kings was probably his best and got little awards attention (though 1999 was admittedly stacked).

I was pissed when THE MASTER wasn’t even nominated for Best Picture that year, but I now realize how sickening the online discourse might have been. Still, the film and PTA (not nominated for Director) were robbed. The actual nominees:

My only real Oscars critique: there was basically no mention of TRAIN DREAMS. My favorite film of the year, nominated for Best Picture. Felt like the movie didn't even exist. Anyway, if you haven't seen it, I can't say enough...
