If a maths professors tells you that 2+2 is 5, would you just accept it and start proclaiming that"maths don't lie" or you'll interrogate them to tell you how they come to that conclusion? If the road to the conclusion is not mathematically sound, then you reject it.
Accepting it without question will amount to argumentum ad populum or appeal to authority fallacy.

You can't know Mathematics, understand statistics, have eyes, and watch TV, and you are not blind ooo, and say Ronaldo is a better footballer than Messi and at the same time get mad at the government.
