25+ years in software engineering, systems programming, and full‑stack web dev. Building emulators, hardware projects, and SaaS tools while running an independent dev shop. Here to share code, architecture deep dives, and the messy reality of shipping real‑world systems.

scrolling on Mastodon: feeling inspired to build cool things and learn about interesting problems people are solving scrolling on X: "developers are becoming obsolete", "there's no point in learning to code anymore", "AI is everything"

@eliana_jordan Apps are not dead. Small, very business specific apps will always be in demand. But, service is dead because those small, very business specific apps can be vibe coded by many. we have to be more clever about what we build and what we ship.

“Apps are dead.” I don’t buy it. People still want tools to: → remember → stay motivated → track things → make better decisions Demand is still there.

@onehappyfellow I like them both! Go is incredibly versatile, and easy to pick up. Rust is a little more terse, but!! Cargo will teach you rust! The compiler tells you what you did wrong and how to fix it.

@Bhawarthaa certainly depends on the week. this week it is Python because I am working on some AI agents. Last week it was Rust. Next week it will probably be Zig because of an open source thing I am working on.

Working on my editor I wrote in C. Implemented syntax highlighting. There’s so little color I can’t tell if it works. 🙈
