@KevinNaughtonJr By making good products you’ll eventually make really bad ones. Like macOS.

If you wonder if your kiddos would enjoy @OpenSauceLive , the answer is yes. My kids had an absolute blast. Today we watched 4 talks and walked around for hours. Things they enjoyed (in order of reported to me): 1. Interactive Exhibits 2. Game room 3. Meeting friends 4. Hilarious/Dancing robots 5. Game shows 6. Trash can robot 7. Hack club 8. Squishing into my selfie with @ThePrimeagen.

@codegirl007 Oh wait I now realize there’s a chance “She” in this tweet is referring to the individual teaching…not your daughter 😆

My kid was just shown how to speed run solving a rubik’s cube and her mind was blown. The amazement on her face and sudden “how did you do that?!” was priceless.

@kudu_biltong @ThePrimeagen Keep building things, talking to people with more experience and learn. I’ve gathered my opinion from working at a large tech company and working with a lot of startups. If you listen and ask questions of what different companies want, you form your own conclusions.

I think this is incredibly unhealthy. Better to keep your AI tools as tools. They are tools as much as your Jira or Linear board is. I totally understand feeling alone when working solo. I’ve felt it many times but AI is not the answer for that.

@JamesRLandrum Congrats! I’ve been there. My first kid was 2 months early and spent 3 weeks in the NICU. It’s rough but the outlook is very positive.

LinkedIn was 11 years of my life and listening to a talk at Open Sauce about it is all sorts of feelings. But deep down, the burning question I have is “so how were the last layoffs?” I know. I’m a bad person.

Hank green hasn’t crossed my mind in over 10 years. Maybe longer. Crazy that he’s speaking at Open Sauce.

I have a lot of dev friends and one of my friends has been building games for 15 years. So I don’t reach for AI much because whatever I need to know will be a much better conversation with a friend. We have a discord server where we chat about game dev all the time. But if I had to, I probably still wouldn’t vibe code. Maybe generate a tutorial and have it explain it to me like I am 12. That way you’re still writing code and learning.

Super cool! Been wanting to jump into playing around with game dev myself too, but feel like I'm going to have to resist the urge to vibe code, so I actually learn / so stuff actually sticks in the old brain. How are you finding the journey, re: balancing reaching for AI or tinkering and learning by hand?

In attempt to enhance the physics in the breakout game, the bricks fall now. If a falling brick is hit, it shatters. The thing that's been hard to get right is creating a realistic impact->shatter based on the ball's speed.

Every so often, I’ve come around to chat and check out the progress on this painting. Super cool to see and the dude is super nice to talk to.

@IroncladDev My husband often creeps in off frame and hands me a plate of food so that it looks like I pulled a plate of food out of no where. It’s the best magic trick I have on calls.

my wife has to be on a lot of zoom calls lately for her ASL interpreting degree and my newfound interest is sending her horny texts/memes, feeding her snacks while the camera is on, and occasionally entering the camera frame to give her a kiss

@JoelStransky Yeah I can see that. But I really want to experiment to see how far it can go. It’s interesting to see what can be achieved.

@codegirl007 It's always easier to just simulate physics. Not actual physics, just a number that increments by a certain delta every frame to give the effect. Can drive most things just with that delta.
