I officially move to Fort Wayne, Indiana tomorrow afternoon. Be honest with me, how much trouble am I in if I truly do not care about ALL sports?

Some of the anger I saw from pro-lifers responding to my tweets was essentially, "how dare you insinuate that pro-life people would abort a child with Down Syndrome!" Guys, I've been in the care of souls business for 18 years now. And when you're in the care of souls business, something you see often is people who have been lifelong, devout Christians completely bail on the faith the SECOND holding to it requires them to suffer. People who have spent decades faithfully coming to worship will leave forever the second their kids come out to them and tell them they have to choose between holding to the Bible and having a relationship with their kids. People who have always upheld what the church teaches about cohabitation immediately reject it the second their kids start shacking up. People who lament the evils of divorce will get divorced the second they think they can come out of the situation better off, and they will give you every rationalization for why the words of Jesus don't apply to them. Ask your pastors about this. Dudes will leave their congregations, go to another down the street to another congregation with their mistress on their arm and act like nothing happened, utterly convinced that God supports them in doing so. People who have thanked you for preaching against the idolatrous nature of youth sports that keeps kids out of church on Sundays will immediately embrace the idol when their kids have the opportunity to join a travel team. And so on. And yes, when people who have boldly and faithfully stood against the evils of abortion find themselves carrying an unwanted child? They will often employ the very same vile rationalizations that they have condemned fifty trillion times before. Do people who identify as pro-life have fewer abortion than pro-choicers? Of course. But with love and respect, you are absolutely clueless if you think that a notable percentage of women having abortion weren't pro-life identifying ladies until the moment their desire for abortion overpowered their faith and convinctions. And, more to the point, if you are offended by this assertion because you know would never in a million billion years ever do this, you are clueless to the power of the sinful nature that lurks within you. If you think you would stand where they fell because you are more pious, more devout, more devoted, etc...well, pride comes before destruction.

@DrJordanBCooper The resolution in question has not gone through floor committees yet and may well not see the light of day at the convention. There are a ton of resolutions in the workbook that will be completely changed or shelved in one way or another.

When one church body is making public resolutions to break fellowship with the other, and is spreading a false narrative so that such an event occurs by the vote of laity who doesn't know the other side of the situation, we have no other option. Obviously we want to resolve these things face to face, which we have continually reiterated. This is a last resort.

@MrMaxPrice I imagine especially for playoff events? We’re not allowed to accept the normal “get in free” passes our district offers for post-season events for any sport.

College coaches and pro scouts: you will be charged by the ticket taker. That’s their job; they’re the ticket taker. If your org cannot afford the HS ⚾️ ticket cost, it might be time for a conversation with the higher ups.

If I were a new pastor…I’d ask elders to switch to 1 year lectionary; pretty much stick to DS 3; nudge toward weekly eucharist being norm; patiently begin teaching the AC in Adult Bible Class or my elders; ask for a policy that all music in funerals and weddings be from LSB,

There is a special place in Lutheran hearts for the only pope to ever greet the LCMS specifically by name. He had an understanding of Confessional Lutheranism that I pray we see again in Rome.

@becomelutheran I've made practice tracks for the chant parts of some of the liturgy settings for some friends. DM me your email and I can add you to the sharing list so you can have access (to pass along to your friend). Since singing involves muscle coordination, you have to do it to train it.

Lutheran Pastors: Thoughts on going to seminary, enthusiastic about the idea of chanting but sincerely cannot carry a tune. No singing voice whatsoever. Asking for a friend...

@becomelutheran Layman who teaches music for a living: The worst chant I’ve heard in my life is still preferable to no chant.

@extrasalt513 First time I’ve seen the congregation chant the Lord’s Prayer. When chanted, normally see it by just the pastor alone.

Any of my LCMS mutuals know which church is in this video? It's the most high church LCMS service I think I've seen.

@ImDanChapa Look at who is saying what. It’s the pastor describing the condition, not the congregation. The congregation saying “forgive us our sins” is — at least to me — not an explicit confession of sin. (I’d rather not convince you, though, ultimately 😅)
