@RealJohnLynch @LPerrins Funny enough the same company is doing both! Indra has the contract for Ireland and has the contract to update TFLs system that's based on their oyster card to the same system Ireland is implementing.

@LPerrins In the real world, the head of Irish Rail, Dublin Bus etc would email the head of London Transport & ask for an intro to the Co that supplied their system. The entire thing would be sorted & implented in 3 months. Meanwhile, in cloud cuckoo land, have they sorted chargers yet ?

So contactless payment is standard on London underground and bus. In fact I can use my AIB card. But I can't use my AIB card on the Luas. The contract to make Dublin transport contactless looks like entering a massive overspend. They can do it London, but they never seem to able to do it in Dublin even though we run a budget surplus.

@SirGreachan @caulmick @muirisoc Yes and the fact is missing is that Dublin Bus are now using 120 electric buses, not including Bus Eireann in Athlone. There is also missing context that the ESB didn't have enough capacity for the charging of the buses so both DB and the NTA had to wait for the ESB to get sorted
