Meet our new National Security Program Fellows, Dr. Jeffrey Lewis and Sam Lair buff.ly/D2Ldi4z

I am honored to receive President Trump’s @realDonaldTrump nomination to serve as the next Administrator of NASA. Having been fortunate to see our amazing planet from space, I am passionate about America leading the most incredible adventure in human history. On my last mission to space, my crew and I traveled farther from Earth than anyone in over half a century. I can confidently say this second space age has only just begun. Space holds unparalleled potential for breakthroughs in manufacturing, biotechnology, mining, and perhaps even pathways to new sources of energy. There will inevitably be a thriving space economy—one that will create opportunities for countless people to live and work in space. At NASA, we will passionately pursue these possibilities and usher in an era where humanity becomes a true spacefaring civilization. I was born after the Moon landings; my children were born after the final space shuttle launch. With the support of President Trump, I can promise you this: We will never again lose our ability to journey to the stars and never settle for second place. We will inspire children, yours and mine, to look up and dream of what is possible. Americans will walk on the Moon and Mars and in doing so, we will make life better here on Earth. It is the honor of a lifetime to serve in this role and to work alongside NASA’s extraordinary team to realize our shared dreams of exploration and discovery. Grateful to serve, Jared

THE DAWN OF A NEW SPACE AGE I attended the Foreign Policy Research Institute’s (FPRI) 18th Benjamin Franklin Award for Public Service, where we celebrated Jared Isaacman and his groundbreaking achievements. @rookisaacman and the Polaris Dawn crew recently completed a five-day mission in space, achieving the first commercial spacewalk and the highest-altitude orbit of Earth, among other historic “firsts.” Jared Isaacman, CEO of Shift4 and an accomplished pilot with over 7,000 flight hours, was the commander of Inspiration4, the world’s first all-civilian mission to space. His leadership helped raise over $240 million for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® to help eradicate childhood cancer. In 2011, Isaacman co-founded what would become the world’s largest private air force, Draken International, training pilots for the United States Armed Forces. As someone involved in FPRI’s mission, I’m proud to be part of an organization that is dedicated to providing high-quality, nonpartisan analysis on critical foreign policy and national security challenges. Through FPRI’s work, we help educate policymakers and the public, using insights rooted in history, geography, and culture to shape a better future. I’m excited to continue exploring the intersection of innovation, space exploration, and national security, and how it will impact the United States and the world at large. FPRI is doing remarkable work in this space, and it’s inspiring to be a part of that conversation and effort.

New: The US military successfully thwarted Houthi attacks targeting two US warships with drones, ballistic and cruise missiles on Monday, @PentagonPresSec Maj. Gen. Patrick Ryder tells reporters. More details to come from US CENTCOM.

Mike Waltz, Trump's pick for national security adviser, in an op-ed for @TheEconomist this month: "The next president should act urgently to bring the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East to a swift conclusion." But this is his formula for doing so: economist.com/by-invitation/…
